Fresh Sewing Day and Small New Blogs Meet-up

First of the month again and, as usual, I would love you to share anything you have been working on this month in the linky at the bottom of the page - I especially love seeing those mosaics with all this month's activity in.

July

Here is the button again in case you would like to add it into your post.

Fresh Sewing Day
<div align="center"><a href="http://lilysquilts.blogspot.com/" title="Fresh Sewing Day"><img src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5069/5883537449_e85ba77279_o.jpg" alt="Fresh Sewing Day" style="border:none;" /></a></div>

Now I am going to add a new section into Fresh Sewing Day which is to encourage a network of new bloggers to link up together. And if you any of you "older" bloggers have a minute to visit any of these blogs, please do! I often come across blogs that have just started, are a few posts in and have one or two followers and I remember how hard it was to move from one or two followers to any more. Where did followers come from? How did other people get followers and I just had my friend and my sister? So I thought I'd have a once a month feature called Small New Blog Meet-Up. So what are the rules? Simple, you have a blog with fewer than 20 followers but you would like to find a few more. Write a post which tells people a little bit about you and your quilting and add in this button. To add the button in, copy the text in the box underneath the button, go to the post you are drafting, click the Edit HTML tab at the top, paste the text in, return to the Compose tab and voila, you have the button. This will let other new bloggers know that the event is going on and they will come and join in too.

Small Blog Meet
<div align="center"><a href="http://lilysquilts.blogspot.com/2011/08/fresh-sewing-day-and-small-new-blogs.html" title="Small Blog Meet"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6147/5989823380_a69fafd955_m.jpg" alt="Small Blog Meet" style="border:none;" /></a></div>

You then come over to the New Blog Meet-Up, click on the Linky and add a link to your blogpost. To do this, go to your blog, click on the New Blog Meet-Up post, copy the text from your browser bar and then post it into the linky when asked where you are linking to.

Next go and visit and get to know at least four other linked blogs - starting with the two above you in the linkys and the two below you. Visit those blogs, leave a comment, click to follow and visit that blog regularly over the next few weeks. Visit more if you have the time.

Finally, visit back any new bloggers who come to visit you and get to know them and their blogs.

  11. I would like to point one thing I have noticed since I began lurking on quilty blogs...
Almost all of the blogs I have come across use Blogger, and the odd one or 2 (including me) using Wordpress or another blog host site. Wordpress does not allow for followers in the same way as Blogger, but does allow for email subscribers so every new post I do gets emailed to those who have subscribed. Wordpress also allows RSS (which I often use and check daily).

And again 13 (my comment is # 13). But my b-day is on a 13th as well ;-) Shouldn't be an unlucky number then...

  15. Thanks for SNBMU, Lynne - I am visiting every blog under my name on the Linky List.

I hope you won't disqualify me. My blog is not new; I have just written my 500th post. But I abandoned my blog and only came back to blogging earlier this year. And I have less than twenty followers so I really do qualify!

  21. Thank you so much for this awesome idea! I am new to blogging but keep looking for other *new* bloggers and can't seem to find any. This is a great way to finally locate them and see what they are doing too. I feel like there is so much to learn both in quilting and in blogging it would be nice to find others who are going through the same thing.

    Thanks!

  22. How do you do a mosaic? Can anyone offer any tips? I don't have photoshop. Is there a web app?

  23. What a wonderful idea! I am a new blogger and am thrilled to have found this info. I am embracing this quilt community in the blog world and am amazed at the sharing and generousity of everyone! I will reread your instructions, place a button on my blog, and hope to see you all at the first of November.
    Cheers!
