My very first ever blogpost back on 1 April 2010 was an entry into the Quilting Gallery quilt contest. Where it said "name" I wrote "Lynne Goldsworthy" and everyone else wrote the name of their quilt so theirs were all called "Easter surprise" and "Easter bunny" and "Here comes Easter" and mine was called Lynne Goldsworthy. Fool. My big sister got all her friends to vote and I made it into third place which was very exciting even though my quilt was pretty rubbish.
Scroll forward two years and my real life friend Katy Jones who is a Ginger Monkey and a fifth of Fat Quarterly, wears big glasses, has short hair and lots of tattoos and looks quite scary (see picture below which she actually looks not too scary) but is actually a very lovely person has entered one of her all time favourite quilts of mine (her quilt, my favourite) into the Quilting Gallery contest and I think her entry is the best and she is my friend so I wonder, if you have a moment, if you would be kind enough to click on the link and vote for her quilt. The contest ends today so it's a matter of urgency to make sure she wins. Thank you all and let me know if you do so she and I know who to thank if she wins. Hers is called Dreaming of Dresden. She was smart enough not to call hers Katy Jones.

ReplyDeleteI think naming a quilt a name is rather cool. I know a design company that does that with their furniture. Anyway, I voted, hers was, by far the best and after all, she is your best too.
ReplyDeleteVoted! It really is a beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteI might have cheated, I voted twice, once from my phone and once when I got home, oops. She is winning.

ReplyDeleteOh, I did vote on it! It's lovely, especially with that nice calm navy (which often does nothing for me, but it Does do it in Dreaming of Dresdens!) I was happy to find three quilts to vote for in all, that were all fabudeluxe!
ReplyDeleteI voted!
ReplyDeleteI didn't get a chance to vote, but I saw on her blog this morning SHE WON! And I just lOVE her dresden quilt!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt - I voted last week (it's great that you can vote for more than one quilt as I knew two quilters in the contest)...you can thank me later! I'm going to give my next quilt a proper 'human' name...best get out the baby book!
