Dresden Gone Urban

Hi, I'm Marianne, from the The Quilting Edge , with my finished quilt. Back in April, I gave you a sneak peak of what I was up to. Lynne asked me to come up with something...anything, that was inspired by her  over sized Dresden Block for the QAL.

Inspiration is a funny thing....for me anyway. It's a like a myriad of images, places, ideas and emotions all percolating together over time. I was already experiencing  CIRCLE ENVY and playing with this, when Lynne approached me back in March. I said yes and promptly went on holidays. When you look at the following pictures, from my trip, you can see where some of the inspiration for my quilt comes from. Mix this with Lynne's block......
A few airport shots, the Montreal Metro and my view from under the sail (we were on a sailing trip).
...and this is the result.... Dresden Gone Urban
Quilt back....I over sized the blocks even more on the back....that Metro Art was really starting to rattle around my brain at this point.

Another consideration, for this quilt was, that I wanted to introduce you to a different QAYG method, than the one Lynne used, just to give you more possibilities.  I chose this particular one because I wanted the quilting, to be visible, on the back of the quilt, as well as the front. I have a series of QAYG tutorials in my blog , just look under the tutorial page heading, if you are interested.

I used a mixed bag of quilting methods and ideas for Dresden Gone Urban.  It's the way I love to work.

I hoped you've enjoyed this QAL as much as I have.

Lynne, thanks for letting me share.
