Blog Header Makeover

My blog has had a blog makeover and I'd love to know what you think.  I have a new header and new buttons.  I'm still playing around with the final design so the buttons won't be ready until the start of next month for Fresh Sewing Day and Small Blog Meet.  The re-design started with me contacting Lee of Freshly Pieced who is a graphic designer as well as a very talented quilter and quilt designer.  I only needed to send her the briefest of instructions:

"something bright, fresh simple, modern graphic, maybe with a quilting motif life a simple morning star block or something. I tend to be drawn to a rainbow of colours possibly mixed with some black or grey and I'd want the background to be white"

and she came right back with a design that was pretty much perfect.

Because I want to be able to manipulate the design for whatever I need it for, I re-drew it in Touchdraw using the best cursive font I have there which is the Fling font (the Fat Quarterly font).
I decided I wanted piecing lines within the stars and white seemed to look the cleanest.  Once I'd added those, I lightened the centre of the stars for a bit of contrast.

A bit of playing around with another font (inspired by the way Lee mixes cursive fonts with those kind of simple rounded fonts) and colours to match the stars and I had the Fresh Sewing Day and Small Blog Meet button designs.

And this is how it looks in situ for those of you reading in feedly or bloglovin.  I'd love to know what you think - all suggestions for improvement gratefully received as I do not have a design bone in my body so it's all Greek to me.

  16. I think it looks great and it's very 'you'! The colours are terrific and I love the different shades in the stars. I do wonder what it would look like with an upper-case 'L' at the start of 'Lily's' but I suspect that's just the pedant in me *grins*

  17. I like the new header; open and fresh. You call that star pattern "morning star" but I saw it just this morning in a book and called "Brecon Star" which I thought was a nod to your Welsh husband.
