Abakhan Projects on a Budget

In this economic climate, we are all thinking about what we can and cannot afford to make, what fabrics we can and cannot buy, what notions etc.  Well how about coming up with some ideas for projects on a budget?  THIS FEATURE IS NOW OPEN WORLDWIDE.  Here's the idea.  You head on over to Abakhan Fabrics and pick out £20 worth of anything that takes your eye.  We send it to you free, you make, photograph and write a tutorial to go on my blog.

So here's what you need to do:

1.   You can now be anywhere in the world to participate in this challenge!
2.   Leave a comment on this post telling me what you would like to make using £20 worth of anything from Abakhan.
3.   In a few days from today, I will choose a winner who will have one month to choose their booty from Abakhan, make something and write a tutorial.
4.   Don't be disheartened if I do not pick your idea this month, there are always other months.
6.   The item can be anything at all - clothing, quilted or non quilted items - anything crafty at all really.
7.   Be as original, as traditional, as creative or as simple as you like.
8.   And this month's theme is Valentine's Day of course!

And, if you're on Pinterest, why not follow Abakhan on Pinterest and take part in this Abakhan Pinterest competition which launches tomorrow?

  1. I saw that ribbon and thought I need to make something with it! So what about a set of pouches, featuring this ribbon across each side... And a little paper foundation piece on the bottom corner on one side.

  2. Fabulous fleece, fabrics and buttons I would make a lap quilt that two people could cuddle up under.

  3. I would use some of the heart fleece material in cream and pink, and cover some heart shaped boxes with the material. I would embellish them a little with some of the dill heart buttons. Then I would fill the boxes with hearted shaped sugar cookies and send them off of my 2 year old niece and nephew (twins). Might have to tie them with some red ribbon for good measure.

  4. I would like to make a beautiful little girls nightdress from some lovely white linen or 100% cotton, I would then embroider hearts around the bottom with red floss.

  5. With all the beads, embroidery thread, lace, satin ribbons and crushed velour I would make something crazy quilted with a valentine theme such as bed runner (to go over end of bed on top of my handmade hanky valentine quilt) or I would make a large decorative crazy quilt heart shaped pillow. They have lots of reasonably priced supplies useful in crazy quilting.
