Dear Husband ...

Here is a little blogpost for my husband.  It is my birthday next week and I never like anyone to be underprepared for this occasion.  I know my DH has already been pottering about on Amazon but I thought I would point him in the direction of a lovely place to take the kids at the weekend so they can all choose a little (or medium, large whatever) gift for me.  Vintage Bluebird is a gift shop in my local town and, although the words "gift shop" usually leave me running for the hills, this one is a little treasure.  There is pretty much nothing in there I wouldn't want for my birthday, Christmas, wedding anniversary, valentines day, mother's day etc.

I can already picture myself pouring tea for the Kitchen Guild from one of these little beauties.

Or chatting to very important people on this telephone perhaps with a G&T in my hand.

Or sipping a nice cup of Darjeeling out of this little cup whilst watching my husband empty the dishwasher...

Or reclining against one of these cushions whilst painting my nails.

If it was your birthday next week, what would you be asking / hoping for?

Comments

  1. Nothing like a subtle hint is there!
Now if it was my birthday - currently I'd be happy with a load of Kona solids to play with - I could say 'in the right colours of course', but to be honest I'd be happy with a lovely stack of complimenting FQ's (11 or 22 would be perfect)

  2. Bri has asked for a pair of bright pink Kickers. Go figure.

  3. Last birthday my husband bought me a colourbox filled with oakshotts, so I have nothing more to wish for... No, I would love to ask for a personal organizer, who will help me clean and organize the mess in my design and sewing space!

  4. I love the teapot and at one time I would have asked for that, but now I am trying to declutter so don't want any more "dust collectors" LOL Now it would be fabric fabric fabric, or a voucher so I can pick my own! :-)

  5. Such a pretty selection from one shop! As for me? I don't know. I guess I already have everything good!

  6. I would ask for an 8 hour uninterrupted sewing window, with the children happily playing elsewhere and where nobody would be allowed to disturb my sewing haven unless they arrived bearing a cup of tea and a biscuit. Unfortunately Amazon don't sell time, or peace & quiet, so instead I would probably settle for a new quilting book like the Fat Quarterly Shape Workshop.

  7. Such a lovely selection of goodies, For me, I would ask my husband for a voucher for sure, things like getting my scissors sharpened that would be good too!

  9. My husband wrote me an "IOU" for a flagstone patio several years ago. Still a work in progress, but it is wonderful so far. I told him if it didn't get done this year I get a new sewing machine. So, I've got my eye on a new Bernina 7 series. Don't get me wrong, he is the absolute best, just a little sidetracked sometimes. Sorry, ladies, he is all mine! BTW, my local Bernina dealer's 780 arrives Monday.

  15. that is a lovely cup - does the dishwasher emptying husband come with it? :) I fired my husband from buying my birthday pressents so I could get what I really want. I have my eye on a pair of fingerless gloves and a pretty Mother's neckless on Etsy {I must admit, there have been a few times my husband has done good with the gift buying, but they are far outnumbered by the really bad gifts}

  16. Love it! I have a "wish list" board on pinterest that direct my husband to on occasion. And I've been known to send him etsy links. I've also asked for fabric store gift cards. I received one to JoAnn's. Technically he met the brief, but obviously specifics are necessary. I am usually spoiled. But we all suffer from "I like it, so ofcourse they'll like it", don't we?

  17. I recently made an online wish list so nobody will have any problems with figuring out what to buy me ;) regardless of the occasion.

it is my birthday next month and i think i will be pointing my husband towards some fabric shops...i am swooning over chicopee by denyse schmidt and indie by pat bravo...i also tend to maintain an amazon wishlist (mostly for myself to remember things, but if people want to purchase items from it for me, all the better!).

  20. Frankly I'd be impressed if OH managed to be in same country for once... Always avoids it, always. Pure coincidence of course... lol

  22. It's my birthday in three weeks so I have been thinking about what I would like. The first thing that popped into my head was a new broom. The second some lovely fat quarters but then I settled for the Golden Ticket for the Fat Quarterly Retreat. Might fly to London on my new broom....

  23. I must say, I would thoroughly enjoy watching my husband empty the dishwasher! I hope they take the hint and buy you a lovely, sweet gift. I'd go for the teapot and coordinating teacups/saucers - one for every member of the KG should do. Very pretty indeed!

  24. Any chance he'll buy all of the items highlighted?!! I once got a shed for my birthday...

  25. I love all your choices, especially the teapot! Crossing my fingers he gets the hint...mine never does :(

  26. I used to have a phone like that. Was very sad when BT took it away because it was no longer compatible. Love that tea cup too!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh my! The tea pots are gorgeous and the cup and saucer equisite! The linens....wow! It looks like I could spend hours upon hours just ogling the merchandise in that shop.
If I had the space I would ask for a long arm machine. That is really the only thing I can think of that I want.

  28. ohhh, these are beautiful!! the phone is hilarious - my parents still have a rotary phone from the 80s, and those things LAST! i think it was their first phone after graduating college.

  29. Hehe. I hope he sees this post. And it is my birthday soon too but I yet to decide what I really want from DH.

  30. If it's not in place beforehand... an engagement ring! Lol. I'm just being honest... I'll bust him if not. It's been years and he's got the great job now since graduating and getting work in April... I know I'm a mess.
