ET Phone Home

May I introduce to you the "ET Phone Home" block, so called because it's made up of equilateral triangles making three stars, so ET and stars so ET Phone Home.  Those of you who know quilt blocks will probably rush to tell me that this is in fact some other block designed many moons ago but, until then, it's ET Phone Home.

ET phone home

I designed and made it for Kati from the Blue Chair for this month in Stash Trad Bee, a bee where we make traditional blocks from stash.  Kati asked for 12" paper pieced star blocks.  Well I like nothing more than drawing up a paper piecing block and this was quick and easy to do using Touchdraw for iPad - I drew up the block and broke it into templates which I printed and pieced.

  5. Fab! I'd love to know how to draw my own paper pieced blocks. They never work or are stupidly complicated when I try things- especially those that are symmetrical like this!

  19. Very cool looking block! I don't touch draw, but I can see it's an easy enough design to draw with pencil and ruler. It looks like it would be a really versatile block depending on how you play fabrics and colors with it.

  53. Hi Lily, just looked at your blog and love it!! I was at a local (to me) quilt fabric warehouse/shop on Monday and they gave us a nifty postcard (which I will be using as a book mark) with your details on so thought I would take a look, I discovered that I have actually used one of your tutorials and followed a 'Hexalong' in the past, but today I took a 'proper' look and will be visiting regularly from now on. I'm hoping to grow my teeny little blog and some of the advice you have given today really helps so Thanks for that.
    See you soon
    Lorraine.
