LQ @ FQ. Can you guess what that means? Here's a clue:
Here's another clue:
YES! You got it! I have joined the team at Fat Quarterly and I am excited way beyond cool levels of excitement. I am as excited as I was the Christmas morning many moons ago when I got the Formula One lego set. The previous year I'd asked for it but my parents couldn't afford it so they got me the tractor Lego set instead and I ashamed to say I went to my bedroom and sulked.
I am as excited as I was when Nigel asked me to marry him although in fairness I had told him that if he asked I would say yes and then spent the next few months waiting for the big moment every time we went out for dinner so in fairness, it wasn't completely unexpected.
Although I have to be honest, not quite as excited as I was that day many eons ago when I came home from school and my little sister was bursting with excitement and trying desperately to hold in a BIG SECRET. "Mummy's bought us something but I'm not allowed to tell you what it is because it's a secret," long pause when her face got redder and redder and the excitement took over her, "WOMBLE PANTS!". Can you imagine that? My two sisters and I were each given a pair of knickers with a womble on the front and I had Orinoco. You have to admit that would take some beating.
At last they found you!
ReplyDeleteI can imagine your excitement
You must be more rhan thrilled to bits/shreds.
Great & congratulations!
Oooh, congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite bloggers joining my favourite magazine - great can only get better!

ReplyDeleteThat is excellent news!!!!! I know you will be perfect for FQ :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree, you can't really compete with Orinoco knickers.
Some things are just best left on the pedestal they deserve ;)
Womble pants! How brilliant. I remember pasting my bedroom walls with womble posters. Strangely, they looked good alongside pics of Marc Bolan.
ReplyDeleteThose were the days!
Fantastic news re FQ.......my favorite mag.
Any chance it could go monthly?
That is fabulous news! My little sister had a 'bursting with excitement' moment one year when she got my dad some jocks with redback spiders printed on them. So I understand that kind of thrill.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Lynne!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how this could beat a pair of womble pants but it's surely second best.
Squealing with excitement for you hoo! Yay!!!!

ReplyDeleteCongratulations Lynne. I don't know which is more exciting though, your FQ news or the fact you had wobbles on your knickers. I will be looking forward to seeing your great works of textile art in FQ. Yippeee.

ReplyDeleteI have no clue what Wombles are ;-) but, hey, Congratulations!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOrinoco Womble knickers! How cool is that! Oh, LQ@FQ - clearly not on the Orinoco cool level, but pretty darn up there with it! :) Congratulations Lynne, about time too!
ReplyDeleteDo you have any photographic evidence of the womble knickers?? Oh that sounds a bit weird...
ReplyDeleteIs it inappropriate to want to high five you? *grin* Congrats!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!!! Massive congratulations!! Sorry for my delayed response, busy retreating yesterday. Wonderful, fabulous news. You're going to be such a great asset to the FQly team, Lynne. I mean, they are already completely awesome, now they just got awesomer. Oh! I hope this means you'll be coming across the pond to market sometime...now I have to figure out how to get there, too!

ReplyDeleteA very amusing post! Congratulations - you deserve to be excited.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! I am very happy for you. :)
ReplyDeleteDamn I can't remember who I had on my Womble pants. It was either Bungo or Wellington but seeing as I still have a stuffed toy of Wellington (made by our mother) I reckon it must have been Bungo.
ReplyDeleteYey yey yey for you!!!
ReplyDeleteI might even subscribe now...!
Congratulations! This sounds like a perfect match.
ReplyDeleteI had to check out who the Wombles were. I don't remember ever hearing about them here in the US. My children probably would have adored them.

ReplyDeleteCongrats!! That is so exciting, you are a perfect fit for that awesomeness! January T
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! They're very lucky to have you :)
ReplyDeleteI loved the wombles as a kid and can be still heard saying "Oh, you womble". Never knew you could get knickers though. Wonder if they come in adult sizes....

ReplyDeleteooooh, totally unrelated but I love the new Aurifil logo.
ReplyDeleteYay! You belong in that group! So excited for you- but of course, not quite as excited as I'd be to get a pair of Womble Pants :D
ReplyDeleteHilarious Lynne. Wobble pants. I remember Correne had pants off someone for Christmas once and she was seriously UNimpressed! :) Congratulations, well deserved too. Now do you believe you are COOL?
ReplyDeleteYikes! Did I say that? Wobble pants? Of course, I meant to say Womble pants! :)
ReplyDeleteOMG what great news!!! Congratulations, what a great pairing :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are just so funny. My daughter has a collection of wombles that her friends bought her for her 18th birthday. I have no idea why. I didn't even know she liked them. Congrats on the job front.
ReplyDeleteWait. There were pants with Wombles on them? This is big news. I have to ask the SO (Brit) about this.
ReplyDeleteAlso - congrats! :)That's really the big news, I know...
