Name that Quilt

So I had a re-think on my quilt for the Brit Quilt swap and came up with this quilt:

Night and Day finished

And here is the back:

Night and Day (back)

The front of the quilt is heavily inpsired by one of my all time favourite quilts ever on Flickr, made by my friend Stephanie (Sleighd):

Circle tree quilt

Which had previously also inspired me to make these three tree wall hangings:

And this tryptich (is that the right word?) of quilts in a previous round of the Doll Quilt Swap:

I freaked a few people on Flickr out by making a mosaic of the world turning leading people to think I"d made four of these quilts:

Night and Day finished

Anway, what I was going to say was I had called the quilt "Night and Day" and then it occurred to me that, although the title fits, it's a bit boring and I bet you lot could come up with something more fun, funnier, more interesting etc.  All suggestions welcome.

  2. oooh it's gorgeous Lynne!! I think 'night and day' does describe it very well.
I'm completely bummed out that I live in the 'wrong' country for this swap!

  3. It makes me think of the passage of time with that wheel on the back, how about 'Rolling Hours' ?
Whatever you call it I love your creative lateral thinking !

  4. Jekyll and Hyde? Split personality? Identity? Cameron? Tom? (as in from the film Knight and Day)

  5. What a stunning quilt Lynne, I adore it. As to names, I'm always rubbish at this. I had enough trouble naming my children, as a school teacher I could always associate a child with each new name I came up with, say no more!! Anyway, back to the quilt, what about "Circles of Life"?

  6. Colliding Worlds, or Sliding Worlds.. or just Collision, although that sounds like its just a big smash up which it certainly isn't. I'll just go back to my day job now lol :D

  7. "As the world turns"? or "Underworld"? I suck at naming things lol

  8. 'Wheel of time' (like the book, but would fit) or 'From dusk till dawn' (haha). Beautiful quilt by the way!

  11. So dang cool! Night and day is what I thought of too. I'm pretty boring when it comes to naming things.

    Very original and beautifully made!
There is really nothing wrong with Night & Day ...
But you would like something a little more original
    - Dusk & Dawn?
    - Happy Depression?
    - Violently Happy?
    - Ying & Yang
    - Holiday at Home?
    - Summer & Winter?
    - LILY & BETTY!!

  22. I like P and P's suggestion of Equinox. I'm always too late on commenting to think up good names! It's a fantastic quilt, Lynne!

  25. This is sooo delicious! There's a lucky Brit quilt swapper out there somewhere. Looks like you've got a lot of great name suggestions already, but I think I'd plump for something that reflects who might see the world from this angle - maybe "Man in the moon" or "Neil Armstrong's favourite view"... or maybe not ;)

  26. "As the World Turns" has been mentioned and it's my suggestion as well. The American Soap Opera by the same name would be so honored, I'm sure!

  27. This is gorgeous, well done, Lynne!

For a name how about "24 hours is never enough" or something of the sort. So true!

  28. Oh Lynne, how do you keep outdoing yourself time after time?!
Hey, there's a name: time after time. or maybe opposites attract. boring, boring, boring. hmm....i got it! Center of Gravity. yes, the way they seem to pull at one another yet stay in the same place. And gravity keeps the earth revolving around the sun. and the moon around the earth. yep. that's my 2 cents.

  29. My first thought was As the World Turns but I'd really just like to call it mine.

  30. All I could think of when I was looking at it was that old song "The Roundabout" I think it was from the 70's.

  31. I would call it moonlighting after the TV show :D

  32. Fantastic quilt - I am loving trees at the moment!!!!
