Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens - ooh sorry, for a moment there I forgot myself and thought I was sister Maria. So, in part three of you sharing your favourite things with me and other readers of this blog, I thought we'd share "stuff". By "stuff", I mean anything that's not a full sized quilt so that includes mini quilts, potholders, table runners, pincushions, aprons, bags, pillows, pouches, purses, wall hangings etc etc. I'm going to share my three favourites so please feel free to link to your three favourites (or fewer if you prefer). And, in case anyone has a numpty moment when linking, I have now worked out how to edit or delete the links so just drop me a line and I can fix any numptyisms. To link, you need to go to the bottom of this post.
Firstly, this is a pincushion I made for my younger sister who lives in London and prefers to stick to two colours in any colour scheme, be it what's she's wearing, decorations on the Christmas tree, a set of mugs etc. So I knew Kaffe Fassett would be out of the question. But Tufted Tweets would be perfect.
When Julia from Little Girl Quilts offered to make my blog over and design me a new blog header, button and icon, I wanted to make her a little thank you. I knew she liked my union jacks (longer time readers of the blog will know I had a whole union jack obsession which went on for some months...!) and that she loved Sherbet Pips so a Sherbet Pips union jack mug rug seemed to fit the bill.

I think my third favourite would probably be my tryptich of doll quilts made in the first round of the doll quilt swap. I made them for Mandy (Mandalin) and put minis of two of her favourite quilts and one quilt she'd made hanging from the trees on the front:
And some Kokeshi dolls (a favourite of Mandy) having a completely pointless conversation on the back (if you're curious to know rubbish they were saying, click through to the Flickr photo!
So please add your links here to "stuff" you've made. I've loved getting new inspiration from your favourite quilts and quilt blocks.
I *love* that little conversation those dolls are having - so true! How big is that little doll quilt? The detail is amazing :-)
ReplyDeleteI love that pin cushion!
ReplyDeleteYour doll quilt x 3 is wonderful! I don't have photos of many other things besides quilts!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed I'm not a numpty.. Your kokeshi conversation still makes me laugh!
ReplyDelete'..that dolls don't even get to play with.' 'Mmm. Weird.' Hehehehe! That is great.
ReplyDeleteToo bad there's no more numpties. I love that word and love to hear(see) you say(write) it. :D
Actually...I'm a total numpty! Are we meant to share quilts/quilt blocks only? Oopsie.
ReplyDeleteEverything is beautiful ...
ReplyDeleteHappy day
Everything is just lovely but those doll quilts are just super awesome! SUPER! I love the shot of color from the mini-quilts and the conversation on the back is hysterical. I'm just in awe of your creativity.
ReplyDeleteI think those kokeshi quilts are my favorite things EVER. Thanks for the laugh! Have linked up a few of my favorites, and am having fun checking out everyone else's! Great idea for a linky party, I may have to try this as well! Though I am likely too tchnically challenged to set it up ;)
ReplyDeleteyeah...my mug rug! it's MINE! {still have to tell everyone it's mine and you made it for me...in case someone doesn't know...btw, i haven't told my blog "audience" about it...ha! next post!}
ReplyDeletetotally love the doll quilt - and i can't decide which side i like more...the kokeshi dolls are hilarious! :)
I love all your favourite things. I'm lucky enough to have seen your triptych in real life and it's just amazing!! It was like holding a great work of art. That sounds really sucky but I'm just telling it like it is! Another one of my favs of yours is your exclaimation mark coaster for Suzuko Kozeki!
ReplyDeleteI really love all those things you made, especially the mug rug! I'd never be able to place a mug on it though! It's too cute for that.
ReplyDeleteOK, I admit it...I have no idea if I linked my picture correctly...but it is there! LOL
ReplyDeleteI think it was your kokeshi doll quilt triptych that initiated my love affair with your work. I think it's no secret that I am an official stalker now.
ReplyDeleteLynne, great stuff, as always :-) I especially like the sofa pincushion, what a nice idea! and Julia most likely will be thrilled about that wonderful mugrug!!
ReplyDeletethanks for the inspirations and have a great day,
Claudia
I laugh now to think that I didn't "know" you before that doll quilt swap. I thought that you were fun for doing that back on the quilts but I enjoy it even more now that I know you better.
