This week on Instagram

Once again it has been a busy week on Instagram where I am @lilysquilts.  I've been working on a quilt design for these fabrics - Basic Mixologie by Studio M for Moda.  The design I've come up with is a twist on a lone star quilt with the same fabrics used in the centre and around the star to make a ring standing out in the middle of the quilt.

Other than that, for those of you who missed it, I had a huge huge huge destash getting rid of all the fabrics that have been building up over the past five years.  I've had a few destashes in the past but this one pretty much wiped me out of fabric which gives me a chance to breathe again the the sewing room.  The fabrics in these two pictures are just a fraction of what I destashed and boy it feels good!

Other than that I've started yet another project with Karen Lewis' Blueberry Park fabrics for Robert Kaufman.  I've sticking with the warm colours for this project which will be my fifth project using these wonderful fabrics and I'm not even close to being bored of them yet.  Can you guess where this one is going?!

Hantex who distribute Cloud9 and Art Gallery Fabrics in the UK have sent me some samples of their upcoming lines and I've chosen a few favourite prints from each one including Artisan by Pat Bravo for AGF, Succulence by Bonnie Christine for AGF, Floratopia by Elizabeth Olwen for Cloud9 and Playing Pop by AGF.

And finally, as a thank you for lending him some of my Oakshott quilts for Festival of Quilts, Michael Oakshott sent me this wonderful bundle of the most beautiful Oakshotts and I now have to decide what I am going to make with them - any suggestions?!

  1. I love that lone star variation! How many people sighed and tapped their foot as they stood behind you in the post office queue while you posted all those destash parcels?!

    P.S. I'm guessing a KLT lone star!
