So I am trialling something new here this week on Lily's Quilts and we will see how far it goes. The idea is we have a giveaway here every Monday as well as a link up for any other giveaways out there in quiltblogland. The rules for the link up are further down.
So today's giveaway is this new book from Lynn Harris called Every Last Piece. I will say that this is one of my favourite quilting books from this year because it goes way beyond being a simple quilt pattern book and is more of an introduction to the many joys of quilting with scraps.
So today's giveaway is this new book from Lynn Harris called Every Last Piece. I will say that this is one of my favourite quilting books from this year because it goes way beyond being a simple quilt pattern book and is more of an introduction to the many joys of quilting with scraps.
It's all about using up every last scrap of fabric and is full of wonderful projects, lots of examples of scrap quilts Lynn has made over a lifetime and also a lot of great advice and tips for using your scraps.
With each quilt design in the book, Lynn adds whole sections of additional advice helping you to design your own scrap quilts using the basic ideas she has used. So, rather than being a simple quilt pattern book, it is a springboard for you to create your own quilt designs.
Throughout the book, Lynn talks a lot about the history behind the design of each of her scrap quilts and her design process for each quilt which really brings the whole book to life and makes it a much more useful work of reference than a book which simply gives you a series of patterns with no additional resource.
And there are different design suggestions with each quilt, different layouts, different suggestions of blocks that could be used in the same way. So for anyone who's beginning to think about designing their own quilts, this is a great place to get started. As well as being full of a whole host of beautiful scrap quilts some of which are pictured in this post.
We are offering two chances to win this book. In your comment, you simply need to state whether you are in the US (in which case the winner's copy will be shipped by Fons & Porter, or somewhere in the rest of the world (in which case Lynn will ship you your copy direct). So one comment, either "US" or "ROW" is all you need to do to be in with a chance of winning!
The winner of last week's fabulous giveaway of Tula Pink's True Colours from Fabric Please! was chosen by Random Number Generator and is Iris of Crazy Dutch Bird Quilts! Congratulations Iris!
For those of you wishing to link up a giveaway, you need to link to a blogpost, Facebook post, Instagram or twitter post. The giveaway needs to be open during the week 11-18 May. The item being given away needs to be fabric, something homemade by you or a quilting book, magazine or similar. Any links to posts not complying with these requirements will be deleted.
