Vintage Quilt Revival Blog Hop

Vintage Quilt Revival is a new book by the Swim, Bike, Quilt Katie,  Freshly Pieced Lee and Fresh Lemons Faith.  This book is right up my street and is one of those books I wish I'd written.  Katie, Lee and Faith have taken 20 traditional blocks and come up with designs, quilts, projects, samplers putting those blocks into modern designs.  Well really the designs have quite a traditional feel but the fabrics and settings are fresh and modern.  I'm all about modern traditional / traditional modern and this book has that in spades.

Each of us on the blog hop chose a block which we made in our own fabrics.  I made this rolling stone variation and chose to make it in a Dear Jane style with one print against white - I chose this big blousy Hapi print by Amy Butler.  All the blocks are being made into charity quilts by Faith, Lee and Katie and you can see those on their blogs at the end of the blog hop.

On the page of blocks you can see mine top right and the rest of the photos in this post are from the project relating to that block, just to give you a flavour of the book.

For each block, there is a project ...

... nice clear assembly diagrams (I love an assembly diagram) ...

... together with design notes which help you to design your own version of the quilt ...

... as well as a nice little section on the history of the block ...

If you want to find out more about the book, head over the to the dedicated website at   http://www.VintageQuiltRevival.com that has important information:  technical Help (for the CD) errata,  information for shop owners regarding potential classes, intro email about the book, authors, where to buy, etc.
