A while ago I designed a quilt for the new Nautical line from Makower which looked something like this.
My friend Jane Davidson from QuiltJane used her EQ skills to turn my drawing into this.
Last week the fabrics arrived on my doorstep.
And, after a few days of tussling with them, they ended up looking like this. I quilted it using a cream Aurifil 50wt in a diagonal cross hatch which gives the quilt a lovely uniform overall quilted texture without interfering with the simple shapes in the blocks.
The perfect quilt for my imaginary New England beach house.
Lovely - boy , oh boy, but you are a speed demon in turning this around so quickly

ReplyDeleteFun! How nice for a lake or beach house! Maybe if I make one, it will feel like I'm at one.
ReplyDeleteOoh, maybe we're neighbors- I have an imaginary NE beach house as well, which I've decorated and redecorated a hundred times over thanks to Pinterest. LOVE this quilt! It really would be the perfect fit for a NE beach house!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous - I love the colours and design. I lived in New England for 6 months and still have my imaginary cabin in the mountains for winter and my beach house for summer. Both need quilts! x
ReplyDeleteOh, reminds me of dressing the ship (US Navy days)
ReplyDeleteOoh - I love the color combo on this one!
ReplyDeleteYou know Lynne....I am in New England and near the beach...if the quilt ever feels too out of place in England, you know where to send it ;) It's great. My sailboat loving husband would love it. Perhaps I will have to make a nautical flag quilt someday. It was a good design choice for this line.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - and I love that beach hut fabric!

ReplyDeleteVery nice! Now when are you moving to said imaginary location? You know, so we can plan to come and visit and go to the beach... ;o)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! That quilt definitely belongs by the beach.
ReplyDeleteAs a Navy Chaplain I really like this quilt. I decorate my office with quilts and they work well to add color. I did something similar in making flag block last spring to celebrate a naval holiday.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed seeing some of the design steps! Lovely quilt. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh Lynne, this just a perfect fit . Ticks all the boxes for me. So clever, as ever
