And so I've gone quiet for about two and a half months but now I'm back. Everything I've made in the past two and a half months has been for just one secret future project but I finally finished all the sewing for that at the end of this week and now I'm free to make whatever I want whenever I want and right now, the door to the sewing room is shut for a few days. But that doesn't stop my mind whirring ahead and planning the next thing I would like to make. And the next thing I would like to make is the modern medallion quilt on the front of this magazine which is currently available in the UK as well as apparently also in Barnes & Noble in the US.
The quilt was designed by Alexia Abegg and is also featured in her new book Liberty Love.
A few more of us have this quilt as their next planned project including Kerry, Mandy, Amanda (who's been sharing her progress on instragram and Flickr):
and Emily (who's been sharing her pics on instagram with the hashtag #medallionalong):
Anyone else joining us for this perfect scrap buster? And perhaps just the excuse you were waiting for to cut into those little pieces of Liberty you've never quite been able to cut into?

Ohhhhh... I was wondering why you've been so quiet. I thought that you were writing a book. Am I right? :)

Hurrah! You're back! I adore this quilt and will definitely be making it too! I'm sure yours will be amazing as you always put the best combinations together. xxx
ReplyDeleteYeah, you're back - I missed you! I love this quilt pattern and will watch with avid interest!
ReplyDeleteI've been waiting for that magazine to get mailed over here to me and I think I might try that pattern.
ReplyDeleteMaybe.
If I can knock out a few projects before it gets here.
Can't wait to see what fabrics you pick for yours.
Yay! Glad to have you back... Missed you! If I wasn't already working a project right now, I would probably join in even though I don't have any Liberty fabrics.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I will be watching the progress avidly. I get so little sewing time that I am concentrating on (slowly) finishing up my WIPs! I still like seeing all the stuff that everyone else makes and I love this quilt when I saw it - can't wait to see yours.
ReplyDeleteCant keep you down for long ;) I am so there
ReplyDeleteWelcome back - can I pre-order!?
ReplyDeleteGot the mag, had no time to really check it out yet - but thinking medallions are go!
Good to have you back!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're back! And congrats on finishing all you had to finish :-) Quite fancy that medallion quilt, but dont have the book.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I don't think I'll be medallioning, there looks like a little too much preciseness in there for me, I'd be hairless at the end!
ReplyDeleteI have the book and I just adore this quilt! Was saying just yesterday that I would love to make it...
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! we all missed you here! So want to do the quilt, but way too much else on right now :)
ReplyDeleteI have Liberty and I have never done a medallion quilt - so tempting but not till next month ! Got a project or two on the go at the moment and I must stay a bit focused....
ReplyDeleteGlad you are with us!
I cant wait to see what you've been working on the last two months! The modern Medallion is beautiful and I just got two Liberty scrap packs from Sew, Mama, Sew, so I may be in!
ReplyDeleteyes, yes, yes...where do I get the pattern?
ReplyDeleteVery, very tempted!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely interested in sewing along if you're getting something started. Good to hear from you again, Lynne. I've missed your posts!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a gorgeous quilt! Bet the sew along will be fantastic.
ReplyDeleteIt's a pretty quilt and I'm definitely going to Barnes and Noble to see if they've got it!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, that's awesome that you're almost done!! Can't wait to see all of your goodies ;) And I adore the Alexia's medallion quilt, I think it's just stunning, and totally intend to make one myself too!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I've got my eye on that quilt too - not sure when I'll get to it, but I'll be watching the sewalong with interest.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back - looking forward to hearing the news of your secret pojects :) I'm sure you'll have whipped up a Medallion Quilt in no time!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back. I have the magazine, bought it last week & have just been waiting for the twins to go back to school before I sit & enjoy it :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're back. I would love to join in with this one. I have the magazine and LOVE it. When are you starting? I bet you're writing a book. At least I hope you are.
ReplyDeleteOooh tempting.....
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you've been up to!
I love the center of the medallion. I would have to use some other scraps. I don't have ANY pieces of Liberty!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. glad you are back.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back :) I've seen bits and pieces of that book online and it looks like it was beautifully shot and might have some interesting things to make as well which is just a bonus. The medallion quilt looks like a great scrap project.
ReplyDeleteMedallion(my favorite) and scrappy(love, love, love) together with a modern spin is definitely in my future. I have too many projects going already to quilt this along with you, but am very excited to follow the progress of each of you participating. That center medallion is so gorgeous that I just might be tempted to procrastinate on my other projects to make one.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful. But it looks super hard. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI just had a thought after seeing the chevron border in the quilt on the magazine cover. Maybe, I can make a quilt like this using mostly "cheater" prints. Wouldn't it be fun searching for the fabrics?
ReplyDeleteI love medallion quilts. I totally want to make this one! But first, the spools quilt from Alexia's book. Just so I can collect Liberty charms :)
ReplyDeleteOh man, I love this quilt and medallion quilts, in general. There is a great article about Gwen Marston in the latest AQS magazine with a funky string medallion pattern. I want to make Alexia's version one day, but first her spool quilt. Just so I can collect Liberty charms :)
