Take a moment to pop over to Fi's endlessly useful and informative wesbite, The Sewing Directory to read my top five sewing tips including my magical secret way to get crucial points to meet which I used to make this block (which incidentally I will be teaching an all-new-super-sized and re-drafted version of at the Fat Quarterly London retreat):
your magical secret way with points is brilliant! So clever ... can't wait to try it out ...
ReplyDelete... it's been a long day at work and I read it really quickly first and went nhuh? so I read it properly and went huzzah!
... and I totally agree about the towel/table combo ...
ReplyDeletePerfect points and no embarrassing thread danglage at the school gate? You're no fun!
ReplyDeleteLove that roller tip, my kids will be forever grateful to you! No more going to school covered in bits of thread from my previous night's sewing at the kitchen table. :-)
ReplyDeleteNice tips! And such a nice block! Someday I would like to make a block like that. Where would I go to look for a pattern? Thanks for your help.
ReplyDeleteGreat tips!!
ReplyDeleteI want to be able to make those points..lol great job

ReplyDeleteI'm popping over to check out your tips right now.
ReplyDeleteIs there a tip on how to quilt it? Mines sitting there glaring at me accusingly trying to get me to finish it lol
ReplyDeleteOk, that pin trick is good. I do that, pin the point just like you said but it has never occurred to me to then start there so thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for those tips Lynne! I use a towel on our kitchen bench to press seams all the time - I found it easier for HST's and geese especially.
ReplyDeleteLove the tips! Thanks Lynn!
ReplyDeleteGreat pin tip - like Leanne I pin it, but also hadn't thought to start there!
ReplyDeleteThanks for that last tip. I know I will be using that one a bunch.
ReplyDeleteGreat tips! I think all quilt shops should have a lint roller at the door - I went in one this afternoon and about an hour later I realised I'd been wandering round covered in white threads. And I was wearing a black coat, just to ensure everyone could see them!!
