Amitie BOM The Circle Game - quilt top finished

Designed by Jenny Kingwell from Amitie Textiles in Melbourne, Australia, this BOM lasts for one year and is being re-issued right now if you want to try it. 12 months of fabrics and patterns. I confess I substituted fabrics and circle patterns as I went, not because I didn't love the original but because it was more fun for me that way. I substituted the Circle Game border with a border I found on this wonderful quilt.

Thank you to my Mum and Dad for buying me the instalments of this wonderful BOM for my birthday and Christmas last year. Thank you to Jenny and the girls at Amitie for a wonderful BOM. Thank you Sew Fresh Fabrics for so many of the scraps in here, especially in that border.  Thank you Penny and Gayle for sharing your American Vintage with me and to the other Circle Game BOMers who were a great source of information, inspiration and support.  And thank you to Accuquilt for the Go Cutter that cut the 500+ equilateral triangles in the border as quick as can be.

I have chosen the quilting thread (Aurifil 40 and 50wt in 8 different colours) and the backing (bottle tops from Going Coastal designed by "Crazy Old Ladies" Emily Herrick) is on its way from America. Until then, I think I might just leave it out on the washing line so I can admire it every time I walk past.

  1. Oh! Am I the first official admirer? I'm gobsmacked. Not quite speechless because you know I always have lots to say. But OH MY! This is truly a feat, Lynne. Knowing you only started quilting a scant year ago and have this under your belt already is really remarkable, you know. You may be the first person in the history of quilting that actually completes a year long BOM! And you've completed so much other stuff at the same time, too! I bow down.

  35. hi Lily, I saw your quilt online. I love the stain glass look. How did you get the black/grey border effect around each triangle/piece? Is there transparent grey ribbon sewn on top? Thanks for the info. It's a beautiful piece. ~ Debbie
