Paper piecing is slow...

...so there will either be no posts for the next few weeks or lots of posts with hexagon stars in.  I'm up to three now and wondering how to join them together.  Any suggestions?  I'm thinking widely spaced with white in between but wondering if that's a bit boring.
The fabrics I am using are spectrum solids and Tanya Whelan dolce jelly roll from Saints & Pinners and Kona White and the Kona pastels jelly roll from Simply Solids. And, if you haven't already, don't forget to enter my giveaway - 6 FQ Tanya Whelan fabrics of your choice from Saints & Pinners.

  1. I wonder what black would look like or another dark solid? Ther's not going to be many shades that tie in all your colours so can you find a contrast that you'd be happy with?

  2. I don't think white is boring at all! and as each of them is so intricate, a wide sashing would show off each individual to their utmost.. I think that would be fresh and sparkly! go for it!

  3. I love using white with colours - really makes them stand out. And don't you just love how calm and meditative paper piecing is? And so portable! Maybe you need a quick project going on at the same time.

  4. White sounds like a good idea-the hexagon stars will stand out and after all the work of English paper piecing-they deserve to!

  5. Try auditioning your blocks on the Kona Medium Grey. Elizabeth Hartman sometimes uses it with brightly colored blocks and her quilts are awesome. Check some out at http://www.flickr.com/photos/ohfransson/

  6. I enjoy reading your blog. Your stars look great. I'm a huge fan of Tanya's Saints and Spinners, but don't enter me in your giveaway. I don't want you to pay for international shipping.

  7. We're with you on this. They are really cute! I've heard that it is a slow process, but I'm a newbie and have no blessed idea what I'm talking about. I think they look amazing. "BearPaw" describes paper piecing as calm and meditative, so I'll stick with that one...Have a calm and mediatative week with your hexagon stars!
