So I'm sitting in the sunshine in the garden raw edge appliqueing leaves onto a quilt tree and then adding Perle stitches on top but which ones look the nicest - the blanket stitches (red, top left), the two parallel lines (orange top right), the single run of stitches that point in (green bottom middle and bottom right) or a mix of all three?
I would go for the blanket stitches myself, but a mixture of all three would look good as well!
ReplyDeleteI usually do blanket stitch. It looks good and keeps the edges tidy (for a while) - BUT looking ay your work I see that a mix brings a lot of life to the quilt. Not much help, am I :)
ReplyDeleteHey Lynne - Beautiful pieces .. and colors, I love the double stitch. I am wondering if you have found a sponsor for your fabric giveaway.. I have some beautiful German tradition fabrics in stock that are just crying out to be made into a beautiful quilt .. Gwen
ReplyDeleteHi Lynne, I like the double stiching, but agree with the other comments about a mix looking really cool..Enjoy the sunshine..
ReplyDeleteHi there - I've just stumbled across your blog via Me and Ma - I like the mix of all three (3) and I love your quilts!!!

Hi Lynne, I like the double lined or the blanket! The leaves look good, can't wait to see the finished quilt! Justine xx
ReplyDeleteI really like the look of the double line - but I like the mix of the three as well
ReplyDeleteHi Lynne,
ReplyDeleteI was initially drawn to the top right double line (orange?) stitches, probably because it stood out the most. But I do like the others too and think a variety would be interesting to look at. Maybe each type of colored leaf could have its own kind of stitches? This photo looks like you started that... green: point in, mostly red: blanket, etc. Decisions, decisions!
Looks like another gorgeous quilt!! I think a mixture of all three would be fun!
ReplyDeleteLynne,
ReplyDeleteI like the double stitching. It is different and really looks well with your fabric.
Carol
I love the mix!
ReplyDeleteI like blanket stitching and double lines best. I'm intrigued to see the completed quilt. Juliex
ReplyDeleteI like the blanket stitch on the red paisley leaf. Beautiful work!!
ReplyDeleteLove them all!
ReplyDeleteDear Lynne,
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy to find your blog and I love the mixture of the stitches. Your work is gorgeous!

I think a mix of them makes it look awesome! I wouldn't do anything but mix the three together after seeing this example!
ReplyDeleteI like the double line - just my humble oppinion :-)
ReplyDeleteBest wishes from Berit in Norway
Thanks for visiting my blog. I have four kids too -- all grown up now. They still keep me busy at times:) As for your dilema ... I love the mix of the three stitches. Adds lots of texture and makes things interesting. Just my two cents.

the blanket stitch is so pretty, but that double running stitch is also really fun.
ReplyDeleteHey Lynne! I vote double stitch. Can't wait to see the finished product :) Enjoy the sunshine!
ReplyDeleteI think you should stay with a mixture of all three. It looks great with all three combined and adds interest. Thanks for sharing your quilt in the Quilt Festival, I'm glad I found your blog and I'm putting you in my reader as I speak. I Love Authentic fabric and from looking at your blog you do too!
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Kelley
My fav is definitely the parallel lines!
ReplyDeleteOh my, this is gonna be a fun quilt!! I'd say go with all three but they are all just beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the double stitches, but they all look very nice! Can't wait to see the finished product!!
ReplyDeleteMy choice is the double row of orange stitches. Very cute look!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to look gorgeous. My favourite is the double stitches, but all three look fabulous xo
ReplyDeleteI really like the double parallel lines but I do take the point about the blanket stitch adding more durability. I guess it depends how raw you are OK with it looking longer term
ReplyDeleteI love the red running stitches, but maybe a mix of all three would be really interesting too?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the stitching on the green leaves. Very cool. What pattern are you doing? I have a tree pattern and now that I see this... I am thinking of doing it this way...
ReplyDeleteI quite like the mixed look - I think they look great together.
ReplyDeleteHRH :)
I think I would go for a mix of the blanket stitching and the double running stitching with the ever so occasional use of the single stitch pointing in.
ReplyDeleteDoes that help?
Q
LOVE the double stitch!! That one has my vote.
ReplyDeletei love them all, but do prefer the two parallel lines just a tiny bit :-)
ReplyDeletewonderful work, mixing it could be your answer, too.

I like the double lines in orange the best :-)
ReplyDeleteI instantly noticed the double line stitched leaf, so I say go for that one! it is just lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteI know it would take longer, but I love the look of just straight stitches, and the double line around these makes them look really "finished" for raw edge.
ReplyDeleteI'm just following you since the BQF, but let me tell you I loved your blog. I would do the two parallel lines it makes the leaves jump to you.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see it finished
Two parallel lines, for sure. Although with your lovely neat stitches, any of them would be great.
ReplyDeleteLove the double lines, but also love the straight stitching, these are a little different which adds
ReplyDeleteinterest to the quilt.
they all look great! My fav is the two parallel lines though if I must choose!
ReplyDeleteI think a mix is funky, good funky.
ReplyDeleteAll of them are truly nice. Such beautiful work, my dear friend. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi from U.S.A. Happy Quilting!
I love the two parallel lines (double stitch?) best too. It just makes the leaves pop out. They all look good though and mix would also be very effective. Can't wait to see the final result. I love your work!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite would be the two parallel lines
ReplyDelete; )
happy stitching!
Lily how can I choose. They are fabulous. All of them. I will say if I HAVE to choose I like the pearl cotton stitching best. But I love what you are doing here.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely two parallel lines. They add movement, like the leaves are rustling in the tree.
ReplyDeleteI really like the stitching on the green leaves. I normally stick to blanket stitch but this definetly looks better.
ReplyDeletehonestly, I love them all...I love the mix and variety!
ReplyDeleteI like the blanket stich best - though could you mix and match them? Love to see the finished tree. I love the quilt Megs garden - lots of leaves and flowers on that one!
ReplyDeleteOh, man! Initially I was going for the blanket stitch, but now am thinking that the most interesting is to mix and match! I'm glad that I found your blog!
