Fresh Sewing Day and Small Blog Meet

So it's July which means only three weeks until the Fat Quarterly Retreat - who's coming?!  See you there!  I've been busy preparing for my Precision Piecing class with three blocks we are going to work through.  The first is designed for practice on all the fundamental techniques of cutting, 1/4" seams and getting your seams to meet at the intersections in 4-patch and 9-patch blocks.

The second is aimed at the braver students and is designed to teach economy squares, half square triangles, quarter square triangles and flying geese as well as being a more advanced block to piece together.

And finally those who feel like it can have a go at curved seams can have a go at this block made of four drunkard's path blocks.

And finally, what about you?  What have you worked on this month?  Any finishes?  Maybe a mosaic of everything you've been doing?  One favourite thing?  Link up at the bottom of this post to share what you've been working on. If you do link up, how about visiting at least four of the other blogs who link up - two above you and two below you - and stopping to leave a comment as well as visiting back anyone who visits you. As always here's the button to grab.

And link up in the second linky if you are a blog with fewer than 50 followers and would like to get to know a few more people out there in blogland. Write a post about this feature, add this button and then link up.

Next go and visit and get to know at least four other linked blogs - starting with the two above you in the linkys and the two below you. Visit those blogs, leave a comment, click to follow and visit that blog regularly over the next few weeks. Visit more if you have the time. And also visit back any new bloggers who come to visit you and get to know them and their blogs.

  1. Great blocks for teaching and learning; I have already 12 years of quilting and I have not made a Drunkard's path block yet! Good luck with your class.

  7. Darn, I won't make it to the retreat this year ~ again. But I have been busy making making making! Finished a Star Gazer pattern by Lunden Designs ~ my very first curved pieced quilt and it turned out great. It will be on display at my LFS ~ Cool Cottons for 2 months. It's a way for her customers to show their talents and for her to feature fabric. It was a challenge but I learned a new skill.
