Giving Something Back VI

This time last week, I pressed "publish" on this post asking for help to provide 50 quilts for 50 kids going to camps this summer to spend some time with their siblings from whom they have been separated by the UK care system.  Siblings Together is the charity who organises these camps and their website has been re-launched this week so make sure you go and take a look at the new website.  One week on and the response has been incredible.  Already 76 members in the Flickr group but a lot more people contributing behind the scenes too.  After prevaricating, I have decided on a Summersville bundle for my Siblings Together quilt in a design something along these lines-ish.

For anyone who doesn't know, this is UK designer, Lu Summers' debut line, Summersville, made by Moda and delivering to a quilt shop near you some time very soon.

And some more UK fabric shops have been stepping forward to offer their help too. Gwen from Celtic Fusions Fabrics has offered fabrics for the project and has been put in touch with a quilter who will have the fun of choosing something for her project.

Claire from Patch Fabrics has offered to help out with some fabrics so the first UK reader to comment on this post will be put in touch with Claire and she can sort some fabrics out for your Siblings Together quilt.

And Tracey at Quilt Me Happy has set up a special Siblings Together 15% discount code, made up some cheap backing fabric bundles and put together some bundles of children's FQs - 4 for £7 as well as offering to quilt one lucky person's Siblings Together quilt for them.  All the details can be found on her blog today.

  7. This must make you feel so so good - another alternative is to have some fabrics cut and ready for the FQ event in June and ask folk to sew up a block over a tea break or lunch break one day - then the next day to sew up strips for flimsy's

  12. I'm up for this too. I've to a 50" top waiting wadding and backing and I think I can source hardwearing backing easily and cheaply so its really just the wadding.

I have the time but not the fabric as usual and I'm more than willing to help in any way.
