Ti Amo Signor Aurifil

That's "I love you Mr Aurifil" in Italian because Mr Aurifil, aka Alex Veronelli is Italian, as is Aurifil thread.  Why do I love Mr Aurifil?  Because I casually mentioned to him that you all said you wanted lots of giveaway prizes rather than one great big doozy, that you'd asked for a selection of weights and types of thread so you could try out Aurifil for yourselves and that you'd like a colour card thrown in so you could then order the exact colour you wanted and guess what?  Mr Aurifil, he say YEAH!  So we have ten packs to give away.  Each pack will contain five spools of thread; one of each weight in cotton and one wool.

And each pack will also contain a colour card.  Hurray!
To win?  Simple, one comment with the word "Aurifil" in.  If you use Aurifil, let me know what you use it for or why you love it or where you buy it or how many thread weights you've tried or some other random Aurifil-related fact I might be interested to know.  If you haven't tried it yet, let me know why you would like to, what you would like to use it for or why you haven't tried it before.  A week from today, Mr Random Number Generator will pick ten, yes ten winners.  Andiamo!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I use Aurifil thread for both piecing and quilting. My machine likes it best (and so do I!). I've only used the 50wt that I get at my LQS.
I would love to try some other weights/ kinds.

  24. I haven't tried aurifil, and I would love to - I have a brand that works well, but haven't really tried very many to see what's different. Thanks for the giveaway! yzobela at hotmail dot com

  25. I'd like to come out of the rock that I've been under and sew with some Aurifil. I have you to thank for shedding the light. Thanks for the great giveaway!

  26. I haven't used Aurifil yet, but I'd like to get a bit more organised about threads.

I am a pretty new quilter, but have been sewing for decades, mostly clothing. In that department, I generally use what I find in my threads drawer and what matches the fabric at hand. I seem to be well stocked with all kinds of remainders, big and small, "legacy" spools, and some large cones of all purpose thread in kinda all purpose colors.

But I suspect that there might be just the perfect yarn for quilting, and maybe even for different types of quilting. So I would love to win and try out Aurifil's awesomeness!

  27. I have never tried Aurifil thread, but would sure love to!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I use the 50/2 weight Aurifil for all of my quilt piecing. I love it! For some reason, the bobbin seems to last forever (which is great) and I find my 1/4" seams to be more accurate. I would really like to win one of your variety packages so I can try some of the other weights. Thanks for the chance! :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ooh ooh ooh, a thread giveaway - I'm interested. I use the Aurifil 50/2 thread for piecing and sometimes quilting. Less for quilting though because I get it from the Cotton Patch and they only stock 10 colours in the neutral range so it's kind of been a useful piecing thread. If I knew where to get more colours I'd definitely be up for quilting with it as well.
    Ciao ;-)

  30. I’m not surprised you love Aurifil threads! I use them for piecing, quilting, appliqué, hand quilting, well... for about everything (ahum... quilt-related that is!). Great colours, huge collection, Mr Alex Velronelli knows how to make quilters happY!

  31. I love Aurifil, and I have several, both 40wt and 50wt. I'd like to try it on my new longarm, wonder how that would work? I'm currently using it for piecing, and it's lovely.

  32. I've been wanting to try aurifil threads for a while. A sewing friend gave me one spool of 40wt that I've loved but I'd like to try others too. Grazie, Mr Aurifil.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I've been hearing a lot about Aurifil these days and I'd love the chance to try it out!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oooooh Aurifil - that is a great giveaway!
As I told you in your last post about this - I use 50 wt and 60wt for piecing - which means that I use the 60 wt in the bobbin and it lasts longer because I get more on the bobbin than when I use heavier wt thread and the result is great! I use the 12wt for stitchery and it is soooo great, I used to divide the mouline and use 2 strands making a mess of the thread I didn't need. The 12wt is perfect for my use.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I want in on the freebies! Very clever of you to ask nice Mr Aurifil. I love using it, I have only used 50wt and it is great FMQ. Never tangles or gives me tension problems. Ecru is a great colour for piecing, almost invisible against most colours.

  47. I don't use Aurifil and I am not even sure if I could buy it around here - I have not seen it in the fabric stores I have been too. I would love to try it though for quilting, piecing, sewing, generally anything that requires thread.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Thanks for the chance to win this fabulous thread. I use Auriful 50 wt for piecing and some quilting in my Juki, because it loves the thread and gives me great results when I use it. I have to mail order it, so my color palette is limited. If I won the card, I could choose my colors carefully.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I have used the gorgeous variegated Aurifil threads to quilt two of my quilts. They had a really subtle colour change on them and looked lovely when I was done.

    ReplyDelete
  50. A friend of mine brought me 4 spools of Aurifil from her travels as a gift for taking care of her dog. The best gift ever! The thread was wonderful to work with. I swear the bobbins lasted twice as long. Same with the spool. The thread didn't leave a bunch of lint around either, it was strong/no breakage or slubs (unlike the spool I just bought of another brand). Love it... and wish I could dog sit again soon!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh what a lovely giveaway - I would love to win some Aurifil thread as I live abroad and you can`t find anything like that here. If I won some, I would use it for hand-quilting as I love to hand quilt whenever possible. Thanks for the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I've been wanting to try this Aurifil thread for some time now, Lynne. It isn't sold anywhere near my home, and I hear that it's kinda pricey, so I guess those two things have been stopping me. But a freebie just might get me hooked :)

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  56. I have made exactly 2 whole quilts and one half and so still have no idea what I am doing! I would love to try some Aurifil as the cheap stuff I have been using up has been rubbish!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I've never used Aurifil, in fact I didn't know it existed until you posted the other day. But after reading about how much you love it I feel giddy just thinking about the possibilities!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I really, really NEED Aurifil - I'm just learning to do FM quilting and all the thread I try breaks far too often - I've read in so many places that Aurifil can be the answer to a 'maiden's' prayer !
    and I can't find a stockist near me so I can't match colours !

    ReplyDelete
  66. What a great giveaway! Is there a way to find out stockists of Auriful when you're not lucky enough to have an Iphone or Ipad to download the app? (Unless Mr A want top giveawy one of those too?)

    ReplyDelete
  67. I've never heard of Aurifil before, but I'd love to try it out in my quilts. Especially the variegated one. The colors look so lovely!

  72. I had never even heard of Aurifil until you posted about it (yes, I live under a rock), but I am intrigued and always looking for something to make my quilting better :)

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'm a new Aurifil user, as in the last few months. I LOVE it. I use 50 wt for piecing and quilting so far and would like to try other weights for quilting. I love that it leaves hardly any lint which is a must for someone who sews as much as I do. I order mine from Discount Embroidery, they have great prices and free shipping on orders over $20. I have only ordered from them once and had a little snafu on the time it took to ship to me (they said part of my order was out of stock but I didn't find that out until after I emailed them to see what the hold up was), but I will give them another try because let's face it, sometimes stuff happens, right?

Thanks for this giveaway because I really need a color card (so I can stop bugging my friend who does have one, lol) and I would love to try those other weights out. Keeping my fingers crossed that I get picked!

    ReplyDelete
  74. I have never sewed with Aurifil before simply because thread is difficult to find where I live...any type of thread! I love that there's a colour card that makes ordering online so much easier. Great give away Lynne! I hope I win :-D

  76. I haven't sewn with Aurifil because we didn't have a local store that carried it. Now we do but old habits die hard and I still go for the cheap stuff in the big box store. I would love to try some and then convince myself that it is worth the price. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Ah, Aurifil! How I'd love to sit on the couch with my hexies and some of your lovely, smooth thread. Thanks for the generous giveaway.

  85. I've heard such great things about Aurifil thread but I haven't found any in my local shops. I'd love to try them out on my very special Hexagon Park quilt that I've been too scaredy cat to get on with - confidence boosting wonder-thread would be ideal :)
    Thanks for the giveaway!

I have purchased it as gifts for sewing relatives and friends.
This really is my thread of choice.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I would love to win the Aurifil. I have purchased it once as I was looking for a higher quality, lower lint, thread. My Elna did not like it first try. After taking a machine quilting class where the teacher raved about Aurifil I decided to try it again. Absolutely no problem. I suspect that it wasn't the thread (ya think?) the first time, I suspect that it had been a while since I cleaned my machine. It's nice it's smooth .... and now I will definately buy more in yummy colors.

How I solved the remembering to clean my machine more often problem? I always spool two bobbins of the same color thread at a time. I read somewhere else, a personal tip, that said "Everytime you use two bobbins, clean your machine". As I was already doing two bobbins each time, it was easy to add this tip to my routine. Toni

  95. I love to try quilting with Aurifil. I've not seen it locally and have heard great things about it. I'm a newer quilter so I don't really have any allegiances yet, so this is a great opportunity for Aurifil!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I piece and I quilt with Aurifil. I love the range of colours, it unwinds smoothly from the spool and I've had no troubles with thread breakage. I also appreciate that the spools allow you to tuck in the thread end, so that I don't end up with a tangle of threads!

    ReplyDelete
  97. I first tried Aurifil when I purchased my newest sewing machine and I love it. I don't have to clean the machine as often and the colors are just my style.

    ReplyDelete

I love this thread, I like to use it for everything, piecing, applique and quilting. I can't always because of the budget, but I do whenever I can. I get it from my local quilting store which is where I learned about it.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I like to try new threads and ave heard a lot of good things about Aurifill.

    ReplyDelete
  112. My favorite thing about Aurifil thread is finishing the spool. That's 500 yds of thread! That means I did a lot of sewing! And I save the orange spools (that's what 50 wt Aurifil comes on) and use them to hold rolled up binding... if I ever get to the binding stage.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I cannot buy Aurifil thread in my area, but I was lucky enough to be sent a spool from a friend. I LOVE it but the spool is empty now and I want more!

Would love to try some out so I know what I'd be getting. Before I start ordering in bulk!!! Thanks for all of your beautiful inspiration, Lynne. And for the chance to win!!!

  120. I've never tried aurifil before, but my cheapy sewing machine is such a thread snob! It will only sew with pure cotton luxury threads. I think him and Mr Aurifil will get on well.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Thanks, Mr Aurifil! (And of course you too, Lynne!)

    ReplyDelete

  126. Oh, I was just thinking about Aurifil last night. See, I have never used it, but I picked up a spool to give it a try. Well, last night we had a flash flood in our neighborhood. Luckily, we only had one room in the basement flood, not as bad as a lot of people. Unlucky for me, the one room was my sewing studio. I didn't lose much, but my thread cabinet was coated in mud. Most were safe, as they are tucked into drawers. But sitting right on top? My one lonely Aurifil spool waiting to be tried. So please please please, Mr. Random, pick me?!

    ReplyDelete
  127. Our LQS only sells one weight of Aurifil. I'd love to get to try some other weights! :)

    ReplyDelete
  128. I've never tried Aurifil, but would love to. It's kind of a new revelation to me that thread matters, and I really haven't know what to buy. So it would be great to sample Aurifil, that obviously has some fans!

  141. I'm new to Blogland as well as the name Aurifil. I have a Brother Duetta and while it's a great machine, I've yet to fall in love with any one thread. The comments out here are so positive that I would be so excited to see if this is the match that makes me ooh and aah when I finish a project on my machine. Thanks for the chance!

Love the low lint and the way the light grey shade (2600) can be used for anything and is almost invisible. Thanks for organising such an awesome giveaway.

  165. I'm just getting to the point in my quilting where I could appreciate using more than the regular 100% cotton all purpose thread. I have an Aurifil five spool variety pack, but haven't had the opportunity to use it yet. Frankly, until your blog about it, I was unsure of the purpose of each thread. Some of the colors are pretty bright, so I might have to get fabrics to go with them.
