Nadine's Etsy 101 (Guest blog post)

(reversible Quilt-as-you-go-Quilt) First of all I’d like to thank Lynne for allowing me to plaster my ramblings on this blog, cos let’s face it, that’s what I do. I ramble on Twitter on Facebook and of course on the blog and send it out into the ether hoping somebody will read my often chocolate-tainted (sugar high!!) ET phone home - the quilt block template

You remember this block? It is 12" square finished and is foundation paper pieced in 8 templates which are sewn into pairs then those pairs sewn into pairs then the two halves sewn together to make one block. If you make this block, I'd love to see it in my Flickr group. Well here is the template . It is printable onto A4 paper. Anyone with US letter size paper, let me know if it prints to size or if I need to make a US letter paper version. To access the template, click through to the google docs hosted version. Set your printer so it does not scale. I set mine to "A4 borderless", print and check that the triangle on the left is 6" tall. And thank you to Sandi from piecemeal quilts who very kindly stopped to explain that for those who need to print it on US 8 1/2" x 11" paper, you can download the file (click File and then Download) to save it on your computer, then open the file. Make with Oakshott St Louis Star tutorial by Jess Frost

Hi, I'm Jess and I'm extremely excited to be here sharing the quilt I made for Lynne's Made with Oakshott challenge. I am a mum of three small rat bags, and live in Australia. I also blog about (mostly) quilty stuff at The Elven Garden . A month or so ago when Lynne asked for project suggestions using the bundle of Oakshott Lipari cottons, I immediately thought of the St Louis Star block, a traditional paper pieced block which I had come across in The Perfect Patchwork Primer by Beth Gutcheon. The Lipari bundle includes a light/dark pair of each of the colours (blue, green, purple, bronze, grey), which work perfectly with this block design. I was delighted to have the opportunity to make it! The Liparis are just so glamorous - I think because they're shot with black thread they have a really beautiful glow about them (even more so than the other Oakshotts I've seen). It was pure luxury sewing with them. I paired the Oakshotts with a variety of very light value
