I echo the general feeling of quilting in the sashing, leaving the books as they are. I would also go for straight lines, but if you had a really clever machine or indeed were fab at FMQ could you do letters of the alphabet in the sashing, or even quilt quotes from some of the books?bellsjohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07951337908253789471noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6513356584940430771.post-69848291297294395092010-10-25T05:04:30.776+01:002010-10-25T05:04:30.776+01:00This is just great. I can picture limiting your quilting to the sashing -- straight line quarter inch from the seams, horizontally and vertically so as to outline the books. I kinda think quilting on top of the books would take away from their impact. But, what do I know?!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6513356584940430771.post-40494228256667222172010-10-25T00:47:09.108+01:002010-10-25T00:47:09.108+01:00I would do some kind of random fill w/i the books ...I would do some kind of random fill w/i the books (stippling, pebbles, McTavishing, etc as previously recommended) with each title being somewhat different from it's neighbor. On the sashing, do straight line 1/4" stitching to represent pages horizontal/vertically. The crossing sections will be 1/4" grid and provide some visual variation to set off the books.Marjoriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09426062040438565996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6513356584940430771.post-13540807942326584412010-10-25T00:25:57.315+01:002010-10-25T00:25:57.315+01:00Oh Lynne, I just love this quilt from concept to c...Oh Lynne, I just love this quilt from concept to colour to setting! I like the idea of sewing either in the ditch, or 1/4" inside the sashings with both vertical and horizontal lines. I think the horizontal ones can go 1/4" inside the 'title' rectangles without interfering with the words? Any way you decide to quilt it, I'm sure is going to be fab.<br /><br />Hey, I have a favour to ask if you're going to Liberty....private email so I don't look like a total opportunist in your comments.Poppyprinthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08251892807966340175noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6513356584940430771.post-1546004668297451672010-10-24T20:07:43.817+01:002010-10-24T20:07:43.817+01:00Hooley Dooley!! Quilting ...Ah - super, you've been working hard<br />Quilting - I'd do dense quiltng (micro shells, pebbling, McTavishing, catherine wheels) in the sashing and just stitch in the ditch around the coloured sections - take a photo of a section close up and either print out and over mark with pen or pencil or draw up in microsoft picture - a great way of sorting out how various quilting formats would lookAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05386852386404591819noreply@blogger.com
