I quilt with 40wt now and would like a little more pop and zing! While I would love to win, I'm not a designer and I mostly make stuff from other people's patterns and tutorials, changing them to suit my size needs (I made quilts for dog crates and cat carriers for animal rescues). I'm not sure I can make a tute of someone else's pattern--so, for now, I will just drool and one day pony up and buy some! It's a queen sized bedspread quilt called "Dreaming of Morocco" that I'm making for my daughter, who served there in Peace Corps. The center is a rustic looking door in periwinkle, inspired by the palette of the town Chefchaouen. Mediterranean light on white walls with a palette of seafoam green, lavender, blues and periwinkle throughout the town. Around the door will be panels of Moroccan tile inspired patchwork. This will be in white and jewel tones. The wide border is a gold fabric with a little gold leaf, inspired by the metalwork of Morocco. I will hand applique/embroider black cord in patterns inspired by the metal grillwork found on Moroccan windows, doors, and fences. I am almost done with the door, its tile overhang and surrounding carved white rockwork. I won't get this done in a month but will have something to show! I think I choose Seascape because of the palette of Chefchaouen. Whether you choose this or not, I send a shout out to all the wonderful Peace Corps volunteers current and past who represent our country abroad.
