I finished the Union Jack quilt. Tula Pink's Acacia. Endless endless paper piecing. Squidgy wadding. Supersoft backing. Bright lipstick pink sketch binding.
I used Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 which is a pouffier, squidgier wadding - not really suited to a wall hanging or display quilt where you'd want something flatter and more stable but perfect for a quilt to snuggle with. For a more structured quilt, I tend to use warm and natural which is a bit heavier and sturdier. And I quilted with a lovely thick Aurifil cream 40wt - lines nice and wide apart, again so that the quilt was softer and snugglier. This is not a show quilt. It is a house quilt.
And it was instantly claimed by twin 2 as hers, belonging to her, only hers, not to be shared, even though it is still covered in loose threads, Frixion pen quilting markings and there are a couple of places where the binding is not quite properly sewn down.
...that is truly the ultimate compliment though!!!
ReplyDeleteTo be claimed is to be loved!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt! The colours are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love the quilt!!! It's gorgeous:)
ReplyDeleteA desired and loved quilt is the best kind, and this one is beautiful too. Maybe you can sneak it back to finish off that binding.
ReplyDeleteLovely quilt and already fitting right at home.
ReplyDeleteIts adorable!
ReplyDeleteDamn straight, need to get in quickly with the quilt claims!
ReplyDeleteLove those colours. Makes me want to make a union jack quilt, despite being incredibly non-British. I guess Canada is a commonwealth country though...
ReplyDeleteSmart girl! Loving your descriptions and thanks for keeping it real ;-)
ReplyDeleteJust one word - Fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it and I love warm and natural, but don't know where to find it here in London. Where you do shop? My stash is running out!
ReplyDeleteMy cat and dog try to each claim my quilts BEFORE the binding. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteJust because it has been claimed, you can slack off and leave all the boring bits!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is wonderful, I want one. I agree with you about the Hobbs 80/20. I just used it in a quilt, that I was planning for the wall, but it is a snuggle/soft quilt.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful quilt! I'd claim it too if I lived at your house.
ReplyDeletesuch a variety of colours here, brightens up our union jack. Thanks for the tip on wadding, I have to buy dome to finish a quilt so will bear in mind what you have said
ReplyDeleteMaybe she needs to finish it off then?
ReplyDeleteIt really did turn out fabulous. Nicely done. And I can't help but chuckle at the "claimed" comments. She obviously likes it too.
ReplyDeleteLooooooooooooove it!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove love love this quilt!
ReplyDeleteI really really like this!
ReplyDeleteIt's stunning!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Totally understand why it was claimed so quickly.
ReplyDeleteLove it. And I love that twin 2 knows to claim before it's truly finished, can't let good things hang around!
ReplyDeleteI would have claimed it that quickly, myself :-)
