Indie Star Pillow and RnR Jack I

I needed to make a present for a friend who, I am 99% sure, does not read this blog so I think it's safe to show it here.  She likes bright colours and I fancied making another lone starburst so I re-drew the star as an 8" block to fit the pillow insert I had to hand.  This is a quick, fun and simple foundation paper pieced block which I can share the template for if anyone fancies making their own 16" version.  The 12" version can be found here.

I love the front but I think I love the back more.  There's such a variety of print, colour and scale in Pat's Indie line (which the back is also taken from), and this print is just a riot of colour and design.  Having spent ages carefully lining up the two backing pieces of the pillow, of course, once I stuffed the chubby little pillow inside, the while thing stretches apart like a small shirt on a fat man.

I'm also starting to piece my Jack Attack from Rock n Romance (also by Pat Bravo).  Flag one of three is done and I am currently tussling with the next two, trying to work out if it is possible to use large scale geometric prints in the triangle part of the flag or if I will just set myself up for an #epicfail because inevitably, they won't meet perfectly and, if they don't meet perfectly, they'd be better off not meeting at all.

  1. Lovely pillow and thanks for the link. The back is very pretty, yes, and I hear the Indie fabric calling me (buy me, buy me), but the front is very nice indeed. I like the way you have used your fabrics.

  4. Lucky friend, Lynne!
Its lovely.. you have such a great eye for prints and colour!
I have had my double fat jack quilt sat around awaiting quilting for so long - it kept being put down the to do list because I had quilts for presents to make and finish, but really hope I'll get the quilting done today as I have two days with the rest of the family away.

It would be could to have the 8" available if you'd be so kind!
