Amitie fabrics and blocks

Once again, the package from Amitie Textiles has arrived with this month's blocks for the Gypsy Wife BOM.  Wonderful fabrics and wonderful block designs - I always love taking a couple of hours to play with these as an antidote to getting larger projects done.   For anyone who wants to practice their piecing skills, Jennifer's BOMs are ideal, a lot of fun and you get to play with wonderful fabrics.  This month's fabrics looked like this.

My version of the HST blocks looked like this.

And the original versions from Amitie look like this.  In this case, I prefer Amitie's take on the blocks as I think, by narrowing the number and colour of fabrics in the blocks, I made them less interesting.

My version of the other block from this month looked like this.

And the Amitie version looks this like.  In this case, I love mine more as sometimes my brain copes more easily with simpler colour placements.  I also like the "like" in the centre - a nod to social media.

And if you don't fancy a full blown BOM but love the Amitie fabric selections, there's always the stash club which this month looked like this.

  2. Far oooouut Lynne, they are gorgeous, love your blocks! We have one more week of school for the term, and then ... we fly to Melbourne for a week ... have told my husband the one and only thing I want to do is go to Amitie!!! Last time we went to Melbourne - a couple years ago - I made it into Patchwork on Central Park, which is still the most awesome fabric shop I have ever walked into. Even including Purl Soho. But Amitie - I cannot believe it and I cannot WAIT!! see you, Catherine
