Every month, we challenge you to design and make something for £20. This month's theme is "Back to School" so perhaps PE bags, pencil cases, pencil rolls, lunch bags, whatever you can think of!
You head on over to Abakhan Fabrics and pick out £20 worth of anything that takes your eye. We send it to you free, you make, photograph and write a tutorial to go on my blog. And of course there's a button.
1. You can now be anywhere in the world to participate in this challenge!
2. Leave a comment on this post telling me what you would like to make using £20 worth of anything from Abakhan. eg. I would like to make a gym bag or I would like to make a star chart.
3. In a few days from today, we will choose a winner who will have one month to choose their booty from Abakhan, make something and write a tutorial. So for this first item, we will be hoping to schedule a post by end September (sooner if you're ready sooner!).
4. This is a monthly feature so don't be disheartened if we do not pick your idea this month, there are always other months.
5. The item can be anything at all - clothing, quilted or non quilted items - anything crafty at all really.
6. Be as original, as traditional, as creative or as simple as you like - anything for going back to school.

I would like to make a cover for a composition notebook and a matching pencil case :)
ReplyDeletemy lad is starting junior school and so needs a gym bag and a pencil case, i fancyed trying a double one with 2 pouches/zips so he can have his coloured pencils on once side and the other bits on the other so his 'normal' pencil is easy to find.
ReplyDeleteOur grandaughter is due to start at Nursery school this September and I would make her a wee pinny for lunchtime, to protect her new and shiny uniform.
ReplyDeleteI used to cover my school books with cloth covers. I added pockets to the front of some to make carrying my gear easier.
ReplyDeleteI would love to make a book bag for my daughter as the school one is blue. According to her blue is a boy colour so I promised to make her a pink one.
ReplyDeleteI would like to make a felt spelling board. Using an assortment of colors, the this would be a tactile activity for small hands, learning their abc's, blends, practice their spelling words.

Oh I'd love to play with the fabric paints....especially the puffy and glitter ones to create a personalised homework diary/note book cover and matching gym bag.
