Blogger's Quilt Festival Spring 2012

It's the Blogger's Quilt Festival again starting this weekend.  It's the biggest linky party out there and, if you haven't linked to it before, try it out this year and you will have a lot of fun having new visitors to your blog and visiting lots of new blogs.

Amy's Creative Side

My favourite quilt this year so far is my theyoutube quilt.  Named because it reminds me of the  Youtube logo.

Made from a whole mix of Kona solids, using the Sizzix Drunkard's Path dies to make for quick quarter circle cutting and designed on Touchdraw, an iPad app.

Quilted with a grid of lines 2" apart to give it the feel of retro 70s leather modular sofas.  And bound in black so that the binding just disappears into the quilt.

This was my original design for the quilt but, once I'd made nine youtubes, it didn't look enough so I kept going and made seven more.

But then when I looked at the design, it seemed a bit lacklustre.  My daughter said it would look better if the black borders were a bit wider so I tried that and she was right, that was just what it needed.

And it will be winging its way from England to France as soon as I get it packed up and ready to travel.  It's off to live with my big sister as a little thank you for being my most loyal blog follower from day one of this blog when my only friend was the tumbleweed.
