Umming and Ahhing about what to do with this fabulous stack of Summersville Lu sent me (her first line for Moda, shipping to stores right now), I got to thinking "what would Rita do?"
You know Rita, of course, everyone knows Rita. Her quilts have a unique look and have been a huge inspiration to me and probably to 99% of you. She modestly said to me "many of my quilts really aren't all that unique in design; most are traditional quilt patterns that I never would claim to be my designs," and yet I reckon I can generally spot one of her quilts at a hundred paces when they come up in my Flickr feed. Bright, fresh, modern and simple but always with a lovely balance of colour, print and shape. So I channelled my inner Rita in making this quilt top.
It's just as the basting stage right now and I'm not sure it has quite the sparkle and zing of Rita's quilts but I love it all the same and hopefully so will its mystery recipient.
