Make and Mend

I got a random unsolicited email last week from a publisher saying that, since my blog was mentioned in their new book, could they send me a free copy.  Um.  Let me think about that.  Um.  YES PLEASE.  My name in print you say?  YES!  So this is the book they sent me and I thought I would tell you a little bit about it, in case you were interested.

It's a super cute little book (does that sounds patronising?) based on the "Make, Do and Mend" motto of the wars and aims to tell you how to recycle clothes and fabrics.  There are loads of projects, tons of basic and comprehensive information about sewing, about sewing tools, how to work you machine, information about different fabrics, threads, needles.  A great book for anyone thinking of taking up sewing or of hanging onto that bag of old clothes and curtains you were going to take to the charity shop and seeing whether you can recycle and repurpose them.   And on page 184 there is a list of useful websites and I'm on it.  Shabba Labba Ding Dong.  You can't say fairer than that.

  3. Lovely to be famous, and well deserved. Surprising to find out about it so late in the game, but at least they told you and sent the book along.

  5. This is very serendipitous - I spent too many hours this week sorting out old clothes (how many pairs of jeans does one man need and I had a ridiculous pile of white linen shirts), so I was hoping to upcycle the shirts and stuff. May take a look at this! Congrats on another lovely mention. Smiles.
