Dead Simple Quiltalong progress and news

The starter post for this Dead Simple QAL is here and please feel free to join at any time.  I would love to see links to blogposts, palette and progress pics so please upload all of these to my Flickr group.  My quilt top is now pieced.

With inspiration drawn from this Design Seeds palette.

I made the 300 charm square 70" X 90" sized quilt and pieced it in twelve 5 x 5 charm squares.

Whilst browsing blogs the other night, I popped in to say hi to Rachel Stitched in Color (a wonderful, inspirational blog if you don't already know it) and she was featuring a UK palette site  which I hadn't known about and will share with you here as I already have plans for an all-solids DSQ based on one of Emma's beautiful palettes.  Take this one for example.

As you know, there was a time when my Dead Simple Palette bundle went missing and took a detour via HM Customs and Excise.  While we were panicking that it had gone for good, Peg and Becca from Sew Fresh Fabrics put me together a back-up bundle inspired by this palette.

It arrived yesterday and here is it in all its glory all ready for another Dead Simple Quilt at some point in the future.

And oddly, I had treated myself to a FQ bundle of Etchings wovens from Fat Quarter Shop which also arrived yesterday and take a look at the colour scheme of that bundle.  Weird, huh?  Seems I like grey, red and aqua more than I knew.

And if you are quilting along and have blogged about it, I would love it if you would add a link here to your QAL blogpost - I love reading about how people are doing with this QAL because it's so different to my other quiltalongs.

  5. It's looking fabulous. I'm rather envious of that last stack of fabrics. I have the overwhelming urge to stroke my screen to see if I can feel the textural way they look. Ha! And I wonder at times why Chief calls me a 'loony'

  16. You have no idea how excited I am to have stumbled upon your blog. I'm a beginner quilter (as in just since last month) and I've been dissecting blogs like crazy trying to pick up as many helpful tips as I can. I have been trying to figure out how all these amazing quilters turned out such beautiful quilts while having the colors work together so well. Your post just gave me an "Aha" moment. So simple, but so important! Thank you so much for sharing.
