I've been kitted

I got an email this morning from my mate Wandafish telling me that a kit has been made of my Hexagon Park quilt.  How exciting is that (for me!)?  My name in lights.

And, even more exciting, it's going to be hot and sunny here in England today - we will get out our white legs, put on flip flops and try to remember how the barbecue works.  We Brits are not very cool in the sunshine - we don't see enough of it so we look dorky on the first real sunshine day of the year every year.  I will put fake tan on my shins so I will have white arms and stripy shins and black fingernails from cleaning the barbecue yesterday which I should really have cleaned at the end of last summer but it's not a very nice job.  There is always a lot of mouldy grease in there and a lot of tiny snail shells and weird little ammonite shaped things which might be snail poo swirls, I'm not sure.  If it's really hot, I might even have a little bottle of beer at lunchtime - see what a wild crazy party animal I can be?

  1. How does that happen without them telling you?

I think I will start a 'Lynne is Fab' fan club, with badges and a certificate and everything, and WE WILL NOT TELL YOU!!! ...(hmm how much can I charge... 833 followers x £5?)...

  4. I don't know whather to laugh or be insulted by your desciption of the Brits!??? ok I can't stop laughing and it's probably quite true but did you have to tell everyone? - where did that fake tan go or shall I just use an old teabag???

Well done on the kit - is that the quilting equivalent of the OBE?

  5. Wowza Lynne - kitted eh? That is pretty stellar! Congratulations!

I'll be staying in (!) as it's the Brighton Marathon today and all roads lead to wobbly cramp-ridden nylon running shorts ... I think mebbe a little tea bag staining a la Nicky and pottering in my front garden will be in order ...

bbq sounds good, and first bbq of the year without white shins wouldn't be "real" (we've had the first one at work 2 weeks ago - after sundown we stood there freezing & warming our hands with the grill's heat).
i woke up this morning with the sun brightly shining...but it's COLD outside. and hubs wants to do a little bike tour...how on earth came it that i agreed to that??? you should pity little unfit me :)

  13. Oh you did make me laugh today - I could so relate to English people and how we deal with summer - I've been in Switzerland for 20 years, but am still doing the same things. I honestly do wonder if our legs are just genetically whiter than those of other nations!!

  15. Don't worry about the White legs!
It's now cool in Australia to have fake tan, coz of the high rates of skin cancer...But really how hot is it going to be? 20 celcius?!?
    lol :)
You need an Aussie Summer, then you will know what hot is...lol ;)

  18. No matter how long I stay in the sun and get pink/red and then burnt my legs still stay white. Except my knees. Why is that? It does feel so good though after the long ,cold and dreary winter. Well done to you on your kit. May it sell well.

  21. Yay for warm weather in England, but you're freaking me out! We're set to move there this year...from MIAMI! What am I going to do? I've never lived through a change of season, let alone 9 months of winter...which is what London will feel like to me. Our winters here are sunny 50's, for maybe a week or two! AAHH! Please tell me I'll get used to it!
