Instagram feed will know, I have been drooling over this line since the start of the year. Jenny from Love Patchwork and Quilting and I had been planning the second BOM for the magazine - find out more about the BOM here, find LP&Q on Facebook here and click to subscribe here. We wanted to go in the direction of a quilt with a Dear Jane kind of feel.
For that we were looking for a line with a vintage design and scale, lots of small scale prints but with a brighter, fresher palette than most of the 1930s repro and feedback lines. I stumbled on Mimosa and it hit every box.
Jenny and I talked more - she's the creative brains behind the design in the magazine and she came up with the wonderful idea of The Vintage Sweethearts BOM. We pictured Downton Abbey style ladies making these blocks, sipping gin and playing bridge whilst the nanny looked after the children and the housekeeper took care of the rest.
Month one is named Ada and each month will be named after these imaginary ladies from a past era. Jenny and her team styled the BOM beautifully using props from Merchant and Mills.
So if you'd like a chance to win one of these four Mimosa fat quarter bundles generously being given away by Fat Quarter Shop, just leave a comment below listing the bundles in the order you'd like to win them - so the first picked will get their first choice and thereafter we'll hope everyone will be lucky enough to get their first or second choice! I will pick a winner a week (or so) from today.
