Union Jack Quilt

I finished the Union Jack quilt.  Tula Pink's Acacia.  Endless endless paper piecing.  Squidgy wadding.  Supersoft backing.  Bright lipstick pink sketch binding.

I used Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 which is a pouffier, squidgier wadding - not really suited to a wall hanging or display quilt where you'd want something flatter and more stable but perfect for a quilt to snuggle with.  For a more structured quilt, I tend to use warm and natural which is a bit heavier and sturdier.  And I quilted with a lovely thick Aurifil cream 40wt - lines nice and wide apart, again so that the quilt was softer and snugglier.  This is not a show quilt.  It is a house quilt.

And it was instantly claimed by twin 2 as hers, belonging to her, only hers, not to be shared, even though it is still covered in loose threads, Frixion pen quilting markings and there are a couple of places where the binding is not quite properly sewn down.

  4. A desired and loved quilt is the best kind, and this one is beautiful too. Maybe you can sneak it back to finish off that binding.

  7. Love those colours. Makes me want to make a union jack quilt, despite being incredibly non-British. I guess Canada is a commonwealth country though...

  11. My cat and dog try to each claim my quilts BEFORE the binding. Just saying.

  12. Just because it has been claimed, you can slack off and leave all the boring bits!

  13. Your quilt is wonderful, I want one. I agree with you about the Hobbs 80/20. I just used it in a quilt, that I was planning for the wall, but it is a snuggle/soft quilt.
