A photo of me

Well for a while now, I've been thinking I need a decent photo of myself for magazines, books and social media profiles.  The only ones I have of me tend to be on holiday with sunglasses on, a burnt nose and a glass of some dodgy foreign cocktail in my hand which isn't quite the image I want to portray.  On top of which my kids confirmed to me what I have always suspected which is that I look weird in photos.  So yesterday I very bravely went and had my photo taken professionally which I was incredibly nervous about since clearly, I would be the only person they would not be able to make look presentable.

In case anyone in this neck of the middle of England needs a great photographer, I went to  (and highly recommend) Red Square who are half way between Derby and Ashbourne.  And here I am.  This is me on a good day and, for the first time since I was about six, I actually like a photo of myself.   And, since I am on the final section of the slippery slope towards fifty, I suspect this might be the best photo I see of myself from here til the end so I'm going to cherish it and use it as my photo for everything expect my passport for the next fifty years or so.

  41. Your kids may think you look "weird" in photos now but in the future, they are going to be really glad to have any photos of you. I used to HATE getting my photo taken & to be honest I still struggle with it but I do it now because I do it for my son. I think you look great.
The 50 thing? Don't sweat it, it's really rather easy, just keep waking up each morning & remember to breathe. LOL
    Cheers

  48. okay aside from dying from laughter at the above comment about your supposed false teeth, just wanted to say that I love this picture. Yes you should treasure it but feel free to get one taken every year too. ;) My mom had us get a family photo professionally taken every year, and though my brothers still grip about them I treasure them.
