So Kerry verykerryberry and I wrote a book. 500 quilt blocks and 20 projects. Quilts, pillows, bags, pincushions, tea towels, thread boxes and 500 blocks. Not drawings of blocks. Actual real fabric blocks. Some classic blocks, some variations on classic blocks, some new blocks, some foundation paper pieced, some appliqued, some English paper pieced, some tricky, some fiddly, some dead easy. And last night, ping, without us knowing it was going to happen, it popped up on Amazon. So that must mean it's real.
It's out on 14 September but we are hoping to bring advance copies to the Fat Quarterly London Retreat together with life size cardboard cut-outs of Kerry and me smiling inanely and holding some of the blocks. OK I made that last bit up because I'm more than a little excited.

I'm not sure I'd want to use Amazon as my yard stick for reality LOL but that is fantastic, well done.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!!! Looking forward to seeing this in all its glory - with or without cardboard cutouts!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Hope its a big success!
ReplyDeleteYay! There's got to be a quilt-a-long once it's out! So pleased for you both. No wonder you were a bit quieter on the blog for a while.

ReplyDeleteHuge congrats to you both, sounds like a classic of the future.
ReplyDeleteHow about cut outs with those big holes where the faces should be and then people could poke their heads thro and pretend to be you!!

ReplyDeleteYay! Many many congratulations Mrs, this is why you were so quiet, no? Cant wait to see it! Shame you're kidding about the cardboard you... I'd nick it when you werent paying attention and take it out for some classy photo opportunities in London.....
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you both - love the format!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you both, it looks great and is sure to be a best seller.
ReplyDeleteWOW guys this is amazing. I am so going to have to get rid of some of my earlier books that I had to have because I don't want them anymore. Amazon here I come. Wish I was coming to the retreat but I just can't justify the expense as our grandson is being Bar Mitzvahed at the end of June and we are giving him a big present and ..... But next year I will.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I'm sure it will be a hit, already looks like a must have!
ReplyDeleteHurray! Any chance of getting you and Kerry on BBC Breakfast to talk about the popularity of quilting and promote your book? I like the idea of cardboard cut-outs: you could make them mechanised/robotic and train them to sign your name for you ;o)
ReplyDeleteOoh I do like that idea. As long as the whole thing is recorded for YouTube :)
DeleteYippedee-doo-dah! Sooooo excited for you both xxx
ReplyDeleteSo exciting, and I don't even quilt. I think you should have those cut outs where there are no faces and we can pop our (far less attractive) faces through and pretend to be you. Only I'll pretend to be KB as she has the kind of Janis Joplin hair I've always felt I deserved.
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Unfortunately there's no sneak peak on Amazon:( I'm sure your book is lovely, but it would be nice to see some of it content before it hits the stores:)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! But I just looked on Amazon and I'm a bit confused. There seem to be 2 books out in September, same title and similar look. One by you and one by Susan somebody. How come??
ReplyDeleteI was wondering about this same thing. Kind of funny to see two 'only books you'l ever need' :-)
DeleteWoohoo, congrats! Can't think what's been keeping you so busy of late... ;o)
