Did you miss Quilt Market?

I haven't been to one single quilt market yet and I get horribly jealous of everyone who is there every time it is on.  With four small kids and a husband that works very long hours, I don't see myself going any time soon but one day I will go.  In the meantime, I get my fix of Quilt Market from the constant Fat Quarter Shop tweets full of photos of quilts, fabrics, booths and schoolhouses.  I don't know how they do it but I imagine they have a whole team each with their own iphone and all tweeting from different parts of the market.  And now I discover that Fat Quarter Shop have their own Youtube channel and it's full of Quilt Market   news, interviews and information.  Here Chelsey Kilzer, who is FQS's social media specialist, interviews Tula Pink about her new line Saltwater.

And she interviews Minick & Simpson whose new line for Moda, Indigo Crossing is my current favourite line.

Then Kate Spain talks about her new line Honey Honey.

And she talks to the Bari J about her new line Splendour 1920.

These a just a quick pick of my four favourite interviews but there are so many to choose from and it's so lovely to see the designers talking in person about their quilt lines and what inspired them.

  4. I wish I could go to Quilt Market too ... but given my youngest is still 1 year old, I realise I have a very long wait! These videos and people's blog posts about Market are the next best thing though (even if they do make me more than a teeny bit jealous...) I keep telling myself, my time will come - one day I *will* go!

  5. I especially liked watching the video on Bari J. She lives in Arizona now, and I met her at a Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild meeting. Such a nice lady and I love her work. Thanks for sharing part of Market with us.

  6. Thanks for the posts - I had no idea that they even did interviews like that (but it totally makes sense!) and I can't wait for the kids to go to bed then I'm totally going to watch these. (I could watch them with the kids awake but I'd much rather be able to sit and enjoy them rather than having to keep pausing them.).
