Modern Mini Quilt Challenge

So my mate Jennifer at Ellison Lane Quilts is having a Modern Mini Quilt Challenge.  With prizes.  Always mention the prizes up top.

You all know how much I love making mini quilts.  If you haven't made one before, it's a great way to try something new without using too much fabric and without stressing if it goes wrong.  And they make lovely wall art when you're done.  And you might win prizes.  Don't forget the prizes.  Here's a mini I made last year.  It's called Double Fat Jack because you make a union jack from two FQs.  Clever, huh?  You can find the tutorial for this in my tutorials page if you're interested in making one.

The Modern Mini Challenge is a 5 week series that kicks off with some seriously inspiring work from some super talented bloggers and me.  So here’s how it will work:
2/6/12 - 2/19/12
Weeks 1 & 2 - Inspiration Weeks - Modern Mini Challenge Blog Hop
Bloggers share their modern minis and kick-start your creativity. Get inspired, get creative, get those ideas flowing!
2/20/12 - 3/4/12
Weeks 3 & 4 - Sew. Sew. Sew!
Work on those minis and create your Modern Mini Challenge piece.
3/5/12 - 3/9/12
Week 5: Enter the Contest!
Link up your Modern Mini Challenge piece at Ellison Lane Quilts. Voting begins that week and winners are announced on March 9th.

And there are 5 fabulous prizes.

A BIG THANKS goes out to Kimberly at the Fat Quarter Shop for generously sponsoring all five of the prizes.
The five winners will be chosen as follows:
James’ choice (my husband chooses his favorite)
Viewer’s choice Mug Rugs
Viewer’s choice Mini Quilts
(mug rugs and mini quilts- the viewers choose from a selection )
Luck of the Draw (Random Number Generator chooses 2 winners)

Both Viewer’s Choice Winners will receive a fat quarter bundle of the FULL LINE of Flea Market Fancy reprint by Denyse Schmidt.
James’ Choice Winner will receive a $100 gift certificate to the Fat Quarter Shop
Both Luck of the Draw Winners will receive a $75 gift certificate to Fat Quarter Shop

It all kicks off next week with the Modern Mini Challenge Blog Hop:

2/8: Lily's Quilts (yes, me)
Contest Requirements:
1. Create a modern mini quilt or mug rug - only one entry per person
2. Enter your mini quilt or mug rug in the linky party at Ellison Lane Quilts on Monday, March 5. You do NOT have to have a blog to enter. You may link a picture from your Flickr account.
3. Your entry (blog post or Flickr description) should include the size of the item.

Now, grab a button and go get started!

Challenges, QAL's, FMQ AL's etc are appearing thick and fast at the moment - where do you start - even should I start - Oh the problems with creating and wanting to try everything - maybe I'll join in later at my own pace.

I have never made a mini quilt before, so I am excited about this. It's going to be stiff competition.

Wow, I see I am going to follow and see what comes up. I have never done a mini, but I am intrigued. Hopefully, I will get some direction and perhaps try it next time. Good luck to all who enter... I will be watching.

What fun! I have used the basic design of the Union Jack to make some fun pillows, but kept toward more traditional colors...Your use of large prints really make it a fun design! http://indigopears.blogspot.com/2012/01/it-all-started-back-in-spring-of-last.html
