Today a quilt of mine is over on Moda Bake Shop. I say that, casual as can be but it still does give me a thrill. Here's a sneak peek of the quilt but you'll have to click through to see the whole thing (and please do and please also leave a comment if you have a minute because it's lonely over there all by myself).
It was a funny one, this quilt. When it's all folded it is my favourite quilt of all. And when it's all scrumpled up on the sofa with one of the kids snuggled under it, it looks wonderful. But, when hung up and photographed, I don't think it works so well. I'm not really sure why. I love Malka's line and I can spend hours with this quilt on my knee admiring all the different prints but does the whole quilt work together? I don't really know.
It looks amazing, folded, unfolded, scrunched up, however you want to show it. Love it!
ReplyDeleteHonestly? I think your quilt design is absolutely gorgeous. I would love to see this quilt made with other fabrics from several fabric lines. Sometimes, the use of a complete fabric line can work against it.
ReplyDeleteThough I’m an avid lover of colour, and I love Malka’s work, these fabrics are just too much for me.
I’m sure others will love it though!
love it Lynne ... with all tbat colour action going on it all pulls together beautifully ... my synaesthesia makes me extremely wary of primaries , but I love this!
ReplyDeleteI love those in your face colours, esepcially in winter and the impro technique. It is a quilt to be used, if you like it best with the kids inside it that sounds perfect to me. It is the way a quilt should be-don't want to just keep the wall warm with it!
ReplyDeleteLooks brill from here, off to BS for a closer look.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have been getting increased spam too.
It's a fab quilt, but it's true that folded photo doesn't do it justice. Weird as it is lovely. Maybe the fence needs cleaning. That was a joke.
ReplyDeleteI loved it when I saw it on the Bakeshop - it's like a Lynne party over there! and I love it here! It has all the best things - bright colour, shapes, wonkiness - what more could a girl or boy ask for!
ReplyDeleteworks for me!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations - I love the bright colours and the bold design! Didn't leave a comment at Bake Shop as I'm having internet issues!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Lynne!

ReplyDeleteI think it looks fabulous, Lynne - folded or not!!! I know it's colorful, and maybe it's just the cacophany of all the colors together is just a little loud, but I like loud :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's wonderful Lynne - I prefer it unfolded!! I really do want to play a game on it!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great! When I saw the MBS post this morning, I said "Hey, I know her!" as if we've met in IRL ;)
ReplyDeleteLynne, great quilt. I really like how you created the wonkiness but reincorporated the scraps so the "waste" was reduced.
ReplyDeletethis is a great quilt! and that fabric line is just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love the fabrics and how they work together, they are very distinctive. I think the quilt is fun, I might try your design as a mini.
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting quilt! I'm not into modern and bright all that much - but boy is this one tempting!
ReplyDeleteVery fun - I'm anxious to use Malka's fabric. I appreciated your tutorial - a good way for folks to get a 'safe' feel of improv!
