Blowing my trumpet

OK so the exciting thing for me is that two of my blocks are going into the Stash Books Modern Blocks book coming out in October.  The two that are going in are a 12" version of the double circle of flying geese block.

KL's HST block

And a 12" union jack block which my mate Angela Cut To Pieces made a version of for one of our bees:

Union Jack - Busy Bees February

In case you're looking to buy the book, here is what it will look like (below) and they say it features blocks from "your favourite designers" although whether or not that's true, I will let you know when I get my hands on a copy.  I'm just kidding.  There's a ton of fabulocity in there.  Including me.  Yes me.  In print.  In a book that may appear in bookshops.  Could that be more exciting?  I have this fantasy scenario where I go into my LQS and the lovely LQS owner is browsing the book with her customers and gasping at the fabulocity and I casually say - that's mine, that one there - and everyone screeches with excitement.  It's not going to happen, I know that, but I'll let you know if it does.

you do know stalking groupies will be google mapping your LQS and organising rota ... :) oh, did I say that out loud?

  15. Congratulations! You deserve to toot your own horn. I'm sure the book will be a best seller.

I can relate somewhat to how you feel. Recently, I taught my first quilting class, which was of a quilt that I designed. It was so rewarding to know that others liked what I created. I can't wait to see my students finished quilts--their interpretations of my design.

  16. looks like a great book and just love your blocks, really everything you make is wonderful!

    HOORAY!! HOORAY!! HOORAY!!

  19. Yay! Your blocks are so super cool! They'll likely be the best in the book! I need to do a post too, but keep putting it off. I dream of that moment of fabulocity as well. But I know after being in print this spring that the likelihood of any LQS here carrying modern publications or staff/customers sharing my excitement is pretty damn small!

  20. Fantastic! Now the next quilt-a-long, after the FWQAL flurry dies down, can be your book. And we can all sign up for it. After we have finished stalking you at your lqs.

  21. Congrats! That is fab news!!

  24. Way to go Lynne - it's so super that theUK is being represented in a quilting publication of this standard - all to often it's North America based, better to be international - you just prove we have some great quilters and designers here

  37. Congratulations Lynne and very well deserved! I believe the LQS scenario could easily be reality too! I think you should now move on to a whole book of your own, I'm quite serious too and I woul definitely buy it! Enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't know if I can contain my excitement. I am so jazzed about that book and learning that you are in it, well that's just icing on the cake!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm so thrilled (but not surprised in the LEAST) that you are included in this book! Congrats! I already have mine on pre order. Last year when my selvage pincushion made the cover of a magazine I practically camped out at the bookstore so I could tell anyone/everyone who walked down that particular aisle: "see those pincushions? I made them." I'm so excited to get my hands on this book!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Haha! I hadn't even thought about the BOOK being in my local quilt store. The magazine that I'm in is in the local store, but so far I haven't had any opportunities to "share" that news with anyone there.

You know I'm a huge fan. ;) I've made one and I still definitely plan on making the other (with my own twist lol).

    ReplyDelete
  41. ps I don't think I've ever been called someone's "mate" before. Love it!

  42. Congratulations! Love both your blocks and can see how both of them made it to the book.

  43. I had pretty much decided that I wouldn't buy any new books, but this is on my MUST HAVE list!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Great blocks! LOVE the clothespins in there!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Congratulations! I can't wait to see this book in person.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Congratulations! I am going to order it now as I really want to make that spectacular flying geese block of yours!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Well done - if anyone should have been in it, you should.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hehe, this post made me giggle. But aside from that, congrats. I really do like tht flying geese in a circle. Makes me think of figuing out a flying geese in a spiral. Hmmm, would I have to put a pile of feathers in the middle, do you think?

    ReplyDelete
  54. oh my God, can I come and boast about being your sister? Please? Oh go on?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Congrats!!! What an honor. I can now brag that I know that woman as I follow her blog!!!
