Farmer's Wife so far

Farmer's Wife so far by Lynne @ Lilys Quilts

8 blocks made out of 111 in the Farmer's Wife QAL just starting over on Flickr, open to all. So far, the more blocks that are added, the more the dud blocks fit in and the more matchy the colour scheme is looking but I'm going for a scrappy look so I think I need to be a bit less matchy now which is hard for me.

  1. It`s looking really good and I love 3rd from the left on the bottom row and top left which reminds me of what you see when you look through a kaleidoscope. There feels real movement to the whole thing.

  3. I love your FW blocks and I don’t think scrappy necessarily means you need to use all colours!

  4. Really pretty. I especially love the first block. Happy quilting.

  5. Looks good so far! That's the funny thing about using scraps - when the fabrics are beside each other unmade they can look ugly together, but made up into blocks they just seem to work! Freaky or what!

  6. Looking good Lynne - love the modern fabrics your using this should give it a nice twist when completed - you've already cracked you 2 per week target - can you keep up?

  7. I love your colours! I think once you have all the blocks done it will look scrappier.

  8. The first block looks really impressive:) LOVE the rest though too! Keep it going girl!!

  9. These blocks are so cheerful! I think that if you just go with the colours that you feel like on any given day, and you do space this over some weeks, you will end up with a nice scrappy look that is not matchy. That is my plan anyway, I am going to wait until I have the book to start, not a keener like you.

  11. Fantastic Lynne - you must be so pleased! But you have tempted me too much now and I've ordered the book and am jumping in too....couldn't resist any longer!

  12. They look great! I'm waiting for my book to arrive to make a start. No scrappiness for me, I'm sticking to a strict colour combo (we'll see how bored of it I am after 111 blocks...)

  16. I like your colors so much more than the colors in the book. I would not pay much attention to this book because of the colors used...now if they used YOUR colors...that would make a huge difference! Great job!

  17. This will be so fab! Your blocks are beautiful, Lynne.

  18. Your blocks look beautiful! I wouldn't worry about being too matchy-matchy. By the time you make 111 blocks it will look nice and scrappy!

I am waiting for my book, and then I'm going to jump in! Can't wait!

  19. They're gorgeous ... this will be such a fab project Lynne ... and I agree with everyone else, it'll look scrappier once you're up in numbers!

I've just got the Hobo Quilts book and I'm trying to work out whether I'm up to it!

Looking forward to seeing more of these Lynne .... they're om nom nom

  20. these are killin' me! I'm a Farmer's wife for goodness' sake!

(speaking of... when it says they use templates, what does that mean exactly? Surely it's not paper piecing?)

  33. Wow you are stitched so many of the blocks. I am still trying to stitch the first block - well the second really because I mucked up the template I printed for part of Block One. But these are gorgeous.
